Why won't my car start?
Okay, so it starts fine when the engine is cold, but after I drive it for a while, turn it off, and then try to restart it, nothing, no clicking, no turning over, just silence. After a couple of hours, or occasionally a few minutes it starts again like nothing was wrong.
I replaced the starter and injectors in the fall, could there be a loose connection?

Sounds like your VATS Security system. If you take your key and wash it (the little pellet) with dish soap and a brush, that might fix it... otherwise you will need to bypass the system. I'm not 100% positive this is your issue but sounds exactly like what my 90 does every so often. When it happens, remove the key from the ignition, wait 5 mins and try again it should start but if you leave the key in the ignition, it won't reset itself.

I doubt you'll find a VATS issue! There's "so many" issues it's difficult to head a person in the correct direction. You mention you've replaced the starter? With what? New, reman or just a quick local build? About the only thing that gives service problems with any Nippo starter is the less than $5 contact for the internal swithching of the starter.
The starter does though require a full 12V+ at the starter, not 11.999 but 12V+. When hot lower than the required it won't do "anything"! Hit the key and "nothing"! Engine cools life's "good again"!! Replacing the starter enable relay is a "fix" for many! Some modify the starter circuit wiring and move on with no more errors.
Loose connection? Could be but not likely!
Soon likely there will be a post asking if you've by-passed the clutch safety switch? Have you? You might want to check it but it's not likely. You can bypass it easily and ALL of my early manual trans cars never had this device. Is it needed? Likely not!
Check the battery first! You might want to put a short length of maybe 1/2" rebar behind the seat!

I was thinking VATS, I replaced the starter, I've found that it is rare to get a bum part though I do know it happens. If it were the starter wouldn't it pull a no-start sometimes when the engine was cold?

Clutch switch disables starter unless clutch is "disengaged"!! Pedal down!! Starter relay next if all your connections and the battery pass the test! Search for the "modification" of the starter relay circuit. I haven't seen it for some time. What's the volt meter inside the car tell you?

I doubt you'll find a starter problem and the trouble shooting should take you there "LAST" anyway! Don't worry about the starter! All of the options regarding various fixes are quite simple and straight forward UNTIL none of them work and then it's "starter time" again!!

"lt5 starter relay bypass" in Microsoft Live search gets you this:

There's likely 25+ more posts similar to this. I didn't read this post before posting the link! Don't know/remember what's in it but it's a "start"!!!

Ah, yes...the dreaded and infamous "no start". The list of causes isn't long, but it's a PITA to correct some of the potential issues. Voltage and grounds are the easiest, with bypassing that stupid clutch switch a necessary thing to do anyway. I went through ALL of the causes before I finally solved it by removing ALL of my secondary alarm/remote door switch circuitry. But that's not nearly as common as some of the other known issues.
You didn't say whether you can start the car by pushing it when it won't start with the key. If it can be push started it eliminates a couple of things right away.

If it is the vats, then the SECURITY light will be on steady while you try to start the car. This will help eliminate the vats as a possible source.

Starter enable relay
Is under the left side Knee bolster and the metal pan under the the bolster has to come off also. On the left side of the steering, I think it's the second relay from the left.ACDelco P/N: 15-8426 or GM P/N:14100455
I would do the clutch safety switch by-pass first thought, JMHO.
