I was going go with an optima but then i started researching some more.
It seems like there is alot of negative stuff out there as well. Also, I've heard rumors that if you buy an optima, it will have to go back to the factory if you have issues, they will then decide if you get a replacement.
Personally, rather then buying that optima kit for $135 and then the battery. I'd go with a AC DELCO from the dealer. That way its a stock battery and if you have issues, you just bring it back to the dealer and get a replacement the same day.

Delco makes several grades of batteries that fit a ZR-1. They have a $60 standard type which their web site says is "adequate". They also have a better grade called "Professional" It has more amp-hours but is the same size. The one that fits is P/N 75-7YR. It just cost me $119 at the local Chevy dealer. I think ZR-1s originally came with a higher capacity battery than standard Corvettes..

Battery crapped out last week & this is my plan of attack.
I was thinking optima, but I have not found one that will fit.
D.
I've been running the Optima red top in my Z and my 91 L-98 for the last 5 years. 2 options besides cutting or buying another tray... First, you can cut off the + top, then solder it as it is really two pieces that will separate over time. I did this and it lasted 5 years w/o any problem. Second, which I am now doing in my L-98, I simply use the shipping protector to shield the + post from the metal ECM support bar... I do not mean the thin post protector, rather the thick plastic that goes over the entire top.
In addition to cutting the + post, I used this protector on my first Optima and never had any chafing. I'm quite certain that if I didn't have any for 5 years, that I'd be able to trust that I wouldn't in this new Optima.
