Default Adding the GS fender flare to a Z???

Anyone try it? Pics?

Part of me thinks it could be very cool or it could be overkill. Do share.

BTW I changed my user name by adding a hyphen for those folks it matters to.

I've done a couple of body mods to my Z but I would never put fender flares on one. Guess its kind of ironic that I think it looks tacky.

I would rather put racing stripes on my car with a big 01 on the doors

They look like something you stick on from J.C. Whitney or Western Auto to me.

I'm with those guys. The GS"s look cool, no doubt. But not because of those tack-on fender flares. They look pretty cheap on what was an expensive car.

Wouldn't that be redundant? After all, GM incorporated the fender flares on the Z by flaring out the rear already.

I don't know...
The GS fender flares with the Euro fender flare extension may look pretty cool with 335 tires in the rear. Lower it on top of that it could look bad as fock. Or it could be overdone...would have to see it though.
If you do get fender flares you will want to have wider tires too, otherwise, what's the point?

Kinda what I was thinking. Maybe not the best idea I ever had, but if you stuffed more rubber under it, it could be pretty cool.

Here's you a picture of my GS and ZR-1 look alike. I like it much better without the flares. Mark

That is a great shot! I've never noticed the way the doors widen so obviously as in that shot when you can compare to a stock bodied C4. Very interesting!

When this:

http://www.popularhotrodding.com/tec...ine/index.html

was released, I toyed with the idea of finding a ZR-1 body, putting that ZL1 in, adding the (flares/wider tires) you speak of and lowering it for something different. The idea never came to fruition, not enough difference in HP or weight to make me follow through.

Has anyone ever seen a ZR-1 that needed flairs? ....except for Bob Hall's? ( which look great as is!)

I believe he runs spacers in order to clear the massive 4 piston calipers on the rear! ...and I think Bob would smack you if you ever tried putting flares on his Z!

Mark

Even those tires fit fine under the wells, IMO.

I have a pic of a Z with grandsport flares buried somewhere in my photo collection.... it doesn't look half bad IMO.
