The NEW ZR1
#22
I want one, but by the time I could afford one I will be to old to drive it. Looks like they put the ZR1 logo on the seat headrest. Anyone here plan on picking one up? If so can fellow Z owners get a test drive? Please

I like it! I think the car will look better in a darker color (new grey). But for a factory car with warranty it should be a good car. It has a lot of hidden power with the SC. We could see 750+hp/700TQ with just a few changes.
I know the road race guys aren't happy with the weight but I think this car needed some weight to be more stable at 160+++ to have a solid feel. I'm sure the body package is functional and should make for a nice car to drive at high speeds. Can't wait to see one in person. Not sure it deserves the ZR-1 badge but we will have to see.

Too true... However, with just about 6,000 planned development, it means that they're on track to make just about as many as our Zs...
Which means, come 2026, I'm adding one of those bitches to my garage too!!!

I'm kinda thinking if GM was smart and reading these posts...invite all current ZR1 owners to a special unveiling. Price of admission is showing your ownership to gain entry and special access. Accordingly, for those able to do so, bring their ZR1's to the event. What say GM??? how about a taste for the REAL ZR1 fanatics who supported you and kept you alive when you turned your back on the King? While I'm not dismissing the new car is spectacular what I do take offense to is referencing the 90-95 ZR1's and their glory of King of the Hill when GM clearly didn't view ZR1 owners as important by refusing to support us shortly thereafter. Time for GM to extend their hand to our cars/owners otherwise I have a suggestion where they can stick this new ZR1.

There is alot to like about the new ZR1, so I'll stick to what I dont like. The wheels, just too much happening there. The engine cover really sucks, they had a chance to make one killer of a good looking motor. Say what you want about the Ford GT, but that is one bad a$$ looking motor. The see threw hood, what for to look at a plastic cover. Come on. Not to crazy about the ZR1 emblem either.
Is the added weight due to a steel block or is it still alm. The blower and inter-cooler should not be more then 80 to 90 lbs, if it is water to air inter-cooled.
Right now I like the looks of the Z06 better, but things have a way of growing on you. Still what a amazing car it will be.
