Someone on this net is the AHRA record holder, I believe. Can't remember who it is, but I'm sure he'll chime in. Think he nailed it on his first ever trip to a drag strip. Wish I could recall his name..

The problem is, the chances of a 'pure stock' ZR-1 being run for lowest ets(pronounced high RPM launches and powershifting)is pretty slim these days. Pure stock ZR-1s are for the most part super low-mileage garage queens purchased as an 'investment.' They won't ever see a 1/4 mile track.
Most ZR-1s that are driven with relative frequency at *least* have an exhaust. That said, I'd be willing to bet the overwhelming majority of C5/Z06 owners who claim 'stock' also have a cat-back exhaust.
That said, I've been involved in ZR-1s since '92 or so. The ones who knew how to drive them back then could repeatedly turn 12.7-12.9 at 111-113mph(this was pre 405hp LT5s), bone stock. I don't recall anyone running a 'drag radial' or bias ply tire in the early 90s.
I maintain that a perfectly tuned 94-95 ZR-1, on a good tire, in mineshaft air, could eek out a high 11 at 115 or so mph.

[QUOTE=bernrex;1561974747]What would it do before the mods ?
High or mid 12's ? Also, with 405 HP ... the car should trap 115 or better. My LS1 vette trapped 110-111 .. with 350 HP.[/QUOTD
Don't know, I bought it that way.

I remember well. How have you been? Still need to hook up for that beer! A buddy of mine mentioned he met you at the Sud's a short while back. He had the --------cough--------white Viper.

I have owned several ZR 1's, 9 in fact and still own an 850 original mile 90 ZR1 as I type this. The fastest I personally have gone in a stocker is my 94 ZR1 which ran a 12.36 at 116 mph bone stock back in 94. But I have had a 91 that I owned for several years and low miles 6k that had 4.09 rear, Borla cat backs and Doug Rippie Chip that would run consistent 12.0's at 117, 118 and ran a best of 11.96 at 118 with drag radials.
