Default Exotic car insurance?

I am about to purchase a 1990 zr-1. It will not be a daily driver just every now an then. Any suggestions on some good insurance companies some of you have been happy with. Any advice on what to be carfull of when choosing a policy.

State Farm if you are doing some mileage per year 2000+

Most important thing is a reputable company and you need to understand the difference between stated and agreed value.

State Farm collector car policy. You can do a stated value on the car.
Only drawback is you can only put 2000 mi. per year on your car.

Those of you with Hagerty, do you have collector or exotic insurance on your ZR1? They gave me collector insurance on my 85, but would only give me exotic on my ZR1. The exotic is about twice as expensive, but still reasonable.

Mine is listed as an exotic......unfortunately hagerty is aware of what the beast is capable of. Can't really blame on that risk assessment

I agree with State Farm. But they have different mileage levels. I recently had to send a questionnaire back on the amount of mileage that I expected to do and the check boxes included 2500, 5000, and either 7500 or 10K a year. I currently have my 90 Z insured for agreed value of $28K and my 97 LS1 coupe for agreed value of $25K and my premium for BOTH is around $525 annually. Obviously the premium will vary from state to state and rural or metro, but should give you a good clue. One thing, you will have to ASK for the collector car policy and you will need to have another vehicle insured with State Farm which is your daily driver. My daily is a 97 S10 beater and I don't even carry full coverage on it.

Good luck

Just got a collector policy for my 94. I did a search online and tried to get a quote from several companys including Hagerty and Leland West. I was very disappointed in all except Heacock Classic, that who I got my policy with..... Great rates and no BS

They have a full page add in this months Corvette Fever, I had never heard of them before, glad I found them.

Try Progressive, they do stated value and seem sharp, no mile limits and will wrap you everyday car in for discounts!!
