I'm ready for mods! Has anybody done this?
I am about a month away from letting Aaron Scott at south Georgia corvette do some mods on my '92 Z for me. He is doing the following: Headers, b&b triflow exhaust, port plenum and intake, chip, tune, 4:10 gears, and hurst shifter. Does anybody have these mods? Everyone is telling me that I wont believe the difference, but I just want to get my ZR1 brothers opinion..................thanks......... .Perry

everyone is right. this is the list of most cost effective mods to unleash the beast without feeding your house to it.
SGC does great work, the only think I would add is getting the cam covers refinished with the rest of the top end at the same time. it will cost a bit more, but the results are oh so worth it.
congrats, you will be in love all over again until you are ready to stroke it. that is a another level in terms of cost, and the wait is intolerable comparared to the top end job.

Have the exact same mods except light flywheel and ceramic disc clutch . done by corey henderson. he also tuned the car on his chassis dyno afterwards results stk 331.7 rwhp after mods 409.9 rwhp. get used to feathering the throttle below35mph as otherwise you fry the tires your grin really does get this big . also 1/4 mile times my best 12.18 @119.21mph enjoy

EXCELLENT for primarily strip and/or racing. But for regular street duty, that's a little steep. Meaning, more street than b@lls out racing.
Better to invest in high HP gains, and go to 4:10's for added drag strip edge if you so desire. I only say this because from your previous posts, I gather that you're gonna drive this a lot.

Aaron has done the same mods to my car. However, we did a 3.73 rear gear and an "X" pipe on the B&B. We also painted the cam covers and pleumn. The results are fantastic. The car is a joy to drive and the throttle respose is awesome. You can the utmost confidence in Aaron and the result of his work. Go for it you will not be disappointed.

410s are cool but the 373s might be my choice if i did it again . the cost of the mods headers 1200. exhaust 1000. porting 1000-1200 add 400for refinishing clutch and flywheel850. so i guess about 4000-4500all togetherwhich is pretty good for about a 75-85hp increase. these modsi am going to do to my other car. its the only way to go unless you got 20k for a stroker.

I have all those mods with cams and a dual mass flywheel delete.
I agree with the comment about the 3:73's, I have 4:10's.
If I were in your shoes, I would either do a lower gear or stay stock in the gear department and put that money towards other stuff like porting on the heads or painting/powdercoating the plenum and cam covers or maybe wires, coils, aluminum radiator, etc.
I mean the 4:10's are a lot of fun, but if your ever planning on doing any top end stuff with the car, you can go a little faster with the stock gears or the nice compromise that a 3:73 delivers.
I would recommend letting them do an X-pipe while they are under there working as well.
Whatever you do, you will love your car after it's all over...a good simile may be like having a new girlfriend.
It's going to be awesome...another ZR1 improved

Ballpark:
Gears $1500
Speedo Correction Gears $150
Coated Headers $1600
Cat back exhaust: $1,200
RT Cats $700 (if you need them where you live)
Ported plenum & injector housings $1,200
Powder Coating $400
Chip $300
Shifter $150
All estimates. You will have other miscellaneous costs, possibly such as new O2 sensors, new O2 harnesses, header bolts, stainless bolt kit, etc. All a must-do in my opinion.
So my estimate was close...

ok I see where you are comming from. for his benifit there are a few places he can save . Coated headers 1200 from corey henderson. flowmaster exhaust 600 from summit if he goes with 373 gear correction is 23.(still avail gm) corey does porting for 1000. the powder coating is optional the random tecs are not legal in calif(but they are the best. so if he does the work himself except the gears can be done by anyone even a rookie. you can do it for 5k but it can be 7 if you go with the b and b3in which made no more power on my car than the flowmaster(did a dyno test with a borrowed b and b)which are quieter and dont need asprin to drive over an hr. it all is up to his personal choices. on the headers call henderson performance tech. in new braunfels tex. they will be avail very soon. he has the jeal jigs so they will be just like them.no offence to anyone just wanted to give the member options to do the mods
