If you don't have the info, just say so. So you're stating opinion, which makes sense as many of us have jacked up our cars without any issues, and as alluded to previously, if the glass top is in and the doors open, it has been known to crack.

BTW - an "intranet" is an internal web based system provided for a limited number of members, NOT the www which is the internet.

I can take it all day long. I just feel that if it were to be taken seriously, it should be done thru pm's. Otherwise all you get is people like 90' sounding like a tool.

Just another way to avoid stressing the car - I lift my car one side at a time, with 2 floor jacks.

I've only lifted the car with the Chevy jack once, - floor jacks are my choice.

all I asked was where did you get the info to jack it with the doors open I have never seen that in writing and Ive always followed the manual as much as possible, The problem with the chevy manual is they dont use floor jacks for the most part they use the 2 post lifts WHICH I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE

but I dont so I jack it up one side at a time place my jack stands and go to work

but all I asked was where is the info comming from to open the doors thats all

Oh and I can take and give it all day long being in the military this long ive seen every type of personality out there, The ones I hate are the ones who think they know everything and make fun of others who doubt their superior (to them) intelect

Its all about learning and passing of knowlage thats it Seems to me we questioned you and you didnt like it

and my PM box is almost full ill post it in the forum,
I dont think its a personal attack at all its the internet

I answered the question, but somehow it got over looked, or it wasn't good enough. Let's try it again.

"I'VE STUDIED THE STRUCTURE OF THE C4"

Now, that's twice I've posted the answer.

then just get under there and make sure you are jacking on the frame lip that is under the car, not on the fiber glass.

I have jacked up many a C4 over the years and never had a problem at all with leaving the car completely buttoned up hood closed doors cloesd and hatch closed I usually get them up pretty high on the jackstands lift one side up first then the other pretty simple really
I've been doing it this way on my c4's for the better part of last 10 years. I haven't had any issues from doing it this way, doors and hood have never needed to be adjusted....no issues yet, and I don't anticipate any.

At 1st I thought we were wasting bandwidth here... then it turned into a jab fest... an amusing jab fest !

OK... here is my simple way to jack a ZR-1
1. Drive the front wheels up on short 4" ramps and set the brake.

2. I place a floor jack under the engine cradle with a 2 x 4 about 18 inches long on top of the jack pad. Lift car high enough to place jack stands under the frame in the area just ahead and inboard of the front jacking points used for flat tire removal.

3. Using a tool similar to the "Jack a Vette" tool I made which bolts to my floor jack I lift the car at the differential. My exhaust is configured in such a way that the tool can fit between the exhaust pipes.

4. Once everything is at the proper height I test the cars stability on the jack stands.

Well, let me close this thread by saying, I've jacked up both my vettes many many times, door's closed, open or whatever, and nothing has happened to either one of them.

If the doors are not structural, what does it matter if they are closed or not? There won't be any stress on them then.

In the future I suggest that all of you who kept this thing going, next time click that little triangle thingy under someone's username. That way I don't have to read all the bull**** some people spew out.
