Strange waters here for me.(C-3 guy). Thought some of you might find this interesting. Went to look at the only 71 ZR1 convert made, and found a number of C-4's still with the window stickers.
Still loading picks, but here's a 95 ZR1,(last year?), vin#1. The underside of the hood is painted the same body yellow from the factory. Was told this is the only one like that. can post the rest, took a bunch. Enjoy
Wow thats crazy! I have the corvette fever magazine from march 1998 pinned on my wall right in front of my face on the page saying "first of the last" with that car on the pages along with alot of other ZR-1 articles on the wall. Great Car.
never heard of one with the hood painted from the factory
As someone stated, these belong to Gary Konner, a client of mine. He told me the yellow underhood painting story a few times. He said it was done as a favor to him. I guess when you family sold more vettes for over 20 years than any other dealer in the country, you can get a favor now and than. Sold the dealership 10 years ago, but Gary kept a few toys
Besides the 71 ZR1 convert, and the 95 ZR1, there was an 88 Challenger car. 86 Konner commemorative. 87 Callaway B2K. 82 collector. All of these with window stickers, never on the road. Also a red 54, 57 black fuelie.
Still loading pics, I'll post here, and I guess to the C-4 forum when they're loaded. BTW, I posted some part number close ups on the NCRS board of the 71. Had some interest there for numbers.
I'll probably get stoned for this but I'll bet that LT-1 was a sweet car! There weren't many people that checked that RPO box through out the entire production run of those cars. I've never seen a vert LT-1/ZR-1, seen one coupe once.
Sorry I got a soft spot in my heart for C3 LT-1's, my very first vette was a used 72 LT-1....alotta good memories there. I just love those steel bumper sharks!

i'm not saying it didn't happen but I've never heard of it. And good luck convincing the NCRS guys that it was from the factory. So, let's see the pics
I guess its possible if cars can have non-standard interior/exterior combinations done for certain individual owners of dealerships. Taken from ZR1net.
In 1993 there was 1 Black Rose Metallic ZR-1 made with white interior. The car was built for Bill Kay Chevrolet in Downers Grove, IL.
In 1994 two one of a kind ZR-1's were built. One was an Admiral Blue with Red interior production #443 (current owner Bill Cherry of Dallas TX) was built special for the owner of Kerbeck's Chevrolet, and the other was a Competition Yellow with Red interior (also currently in TX.).
In 1995 it is rumored 2 ZR-1's were Yellow/Red.
It's rumored that on 4/23/91, a special color 1991 ZR1 was made for a dignitary - WA-9795 Green/gray.

Know from experience, these claims always bring out the skeptics. Thats a good thing.
Don't know one way or the other about the yellow, but this car has the window sticker, (wow that ZR1 option is expensive!!),plastic wrapped steering wheel, and all the other factory tags and such, still on it.
Guess someone could always ask the guy that signed the engine. More pics to vome
that guy that singed the motor is the godfather of the ZR-1 and a hell of a guy. yes the zr-1 option was expensive and worth every penny and yes 95 was the last year of the ZR-1. Hang around a bit, seems like you would like us

I am getting kind of comfortable here ,thanks. Hard for the "tougue in cheek" remark about Dave to appear in the words. Gary actually knows him quite well.
Took a number of pics of this ZR1. Still uploading but here's the sticker
Looking at the pictures you posted from Konner's Yellow ZR1, I can tell you that is not typical facotry production and would not be recognized as such under the Bloomington Gold Certification, which I serve as a Judge. I am fairly certain the NCRS would look upon that the same.
Aside from the hood itself being painted, there are lots of trim parts, bolts, and other items with paint/overspray.
That is NOT to say his car isn't cool - It just isn't the way the line would have done it - typically. It needs to have line photos or other matter-of-fact papers to back it up, should a claim to originality ever be made.
