Default First crank and she lives!

Ok got the motor all back together on the DRM500 hooked up all the oil coolant everything is set cranked it over and it came to life on the first try I had a big grin om my face

Only thing is the lifters are quite loud right now, I had removed the fuses for the injectors and cranked it over a little while to get the oil moving around is there something I missed or do I just need to throw a larger oil in there Im using 10W30 for this initial run??

any sugestions

Nice one phrogs, mine was a bit noisey when i first started it,then i checked the coolant and found i needed to add more (There was air in the system) ,then once the coolant had got around the engine she went nice and quiet.

not long maybe 2 minutes

Some of that noise may have been the cam tensioners, but if your oil level is good and you have good pressure you might just need a little more time for everything to pump up. Idle speed only.

Well got the motor all set to run today, got it running and was adding coolant to burp it and noticed a coulple of leaks had to readjust some hoses then fired it up again let it run for quite a while and all the clicking is gone the lifters got pumped up and im happy with a big grin!

Ill get some pics up later just been hella busy!

Time to keep on kicking got a couple of codes one being the 23 the other 45 23 is valid since I have it disconected and im a bit stumped on 45 maybe it needs to get on the road and bang through the gears

JP,

Sounds like it needs a test run down some of those back roads out there. Run it like it was meant to be run!

ANY HELP you could provide as to how to go about getting this project started . I am new and alot of people I've talked to just scratch their head when I mention this motor.

The work on this motor was done already before I bought it, but the work was don by doug rippie motorsports its a DRM 500 package

http://www.dougrippie.com/

I tore the motor apart to powedercoat and change all the gaskets, retime the cams and just make sure everything was in order I didnt rebuild it but you need to cantact some of the big guys that were mentioned in your other thread ess mark hiebeck theres a few people who can work on them but im not sure were to get some parts, I have another engine I need to rebuild and it seems the main bearings are hard to find....
