F that. I'll be damned if they take my car.

The other issue is why hasn't a track been built within close proximity to Toronto. Some C5 driver ate it the other night.

Civil Remedies Act, a law passed last December which allows police to seize property used in illegal activities.
So the cops can take your car even if you were just speeding a little, not racing??

That sounds like more of an incentive to not pull over than to slow down.

No-Unless they "decide" you were racing. Looks like they adopted another one of Kalifornias laws, same thing out here.
Now were at the mercy every LEO's mood.

I appreciate law enforcement and all, but one bad apple will result in
a televised high speed chase from hell that results in me scattering it at the end. If I cant have it nobody can

This whole issue is being discussed in the Canadian section of this forum. The street racing issue is a load of crap. More people probably die blowing a blood vessel on the crapper in 2 months then in all the street racing in the last 10 years. The issue is they need publicity so this is how to get it. They need "gov't funds" and this is how they do it by creating a concern. Its all the beaurocrats. I'm not condoning any street racing mind you and a loss of life is a horrific price to pay but let me tell you now that this law is in effect why would you pull over if your car can easily out power the police cruisers? There are going to be people willing to take that risk that they can out run the police and how is that safe for the public??? This issue just ticks me off. The lack of reasoning just reaffirms the incredible stupidty. Oh and the best part is that every year on the way to the local track the police have closed off all the roads leading to the track and have pulled over every sports car and issued severe tickets and pulled plates on vehicles trying to go the track legitimately. This oughta help curb street racing

What ever happened to, "Possession is 9/10th of the law"?

I guess by this account, a vehicle ownership with both my name and the vehicle's VIN number on it doesn't mean I legally possess the vehicle, giving the authorities the right to do whatever they wish with it. So then why does the Government make us pay $90 a year for a worthless piece of paper?

Hey, when do you think they'll start applying this same logic to our homes? Maybe they'll start repossessing and tearing down the homes of people who don't recycle! That'll teach all those wreckless Canadian homeowners!

I guess the name "Cana-DUH!" really does apply.

Someone will and should challenge this in court. The Police in Ontario are getting way too much power and the Gvt. is allowing them. I for 1 would take this to the max if they tried to take my car. This Country is slowly becomming Communist, they make rules for everyone based on a few bad apples, and if your not good, we will punish you, take away your rights and everything you have worked for...what a F**king joke. Why not hit these people where it hurts...the pocket, drivers license, jail...then only the true guilty would be punished same as DUI. And as far as being used in an "illegal act" LOL......... that could be "anything"...Speeding, Racing, Dangerous Driving, Careless Driving, Excessive Noise, Illegal Turn, Smoking a Cigerette in a no smoking area whatever the COP feels you are guilty of doing constitutes the seizure of your vehicle and we all know they do not LIE.

This will be challenged!
