Default Wheel lock removal...

Went to swap to the new Amolds and new meat and realized the wheel lock key was nowhere to be found. Called the previous owner to no avail.

Shame on me, I should know better. I was just too damn excited last year when I bought it that I forgot to ask.

Looks like they have quite a few "GM" lock removal tools out there but I wasn't sure if they will have adequate clearance with the 91 sawblades. (Yes they are the "GM" style locks, not aftermarket)

Anyone used one that works? Let me know the brand/model # if possible.

Take a 12 point socket and "beat" it on. Don't worry about the socket, that's what tool warranties are for! It generally works very well!

Yep - hammer the piss out of it, and turn it off. This is what the thief will do to remove the wheels - they use a sledge, one hit, and spin it off!

I have 3 cars with wheel locks and I've lost the key to all 3. I'm batting a thousand with the sledge hammer...works everytime! I was left on the side of I-10 with a flat in the middle of nowhere in Alabama with a hurricane bearing down on me last year ...yes, I officially hate wheel locks! Actually, I found the key for my ZR1 locks a 1/4 mile down the street in an intersection the next day...even dumbazzes get lucky every once in a while.

Sears has a nut remover that works very well. I recently used it on a car that required about 400 lbs of torque for removal.

3/4" 12 pt socket + hammer and in less than 5 minutes they were off.

Thanks.

I guess that proves the locks really don't do much.

Good job! And yes, the locks are only there to keep honest people honest. I didn't even bother to put locks back on one of the cars...if someone wants them that bad, they can have them!
