Default Shifter Recommendation /zr1

I have a 1994 ZR1 with the stock shifter. Is there any advantage to changing to an after market shifter like a B&M or Hurst. Any recommendations?

From what little I know and have read, it sounds like either one of those will be a big improvement over the stock stick....after having a few 2nd gear grinders when powershifting, that's one thing I plan on doing after a ZF fluid change and clutch inspection.

I had a B&M Ripper shifter and it was hard to shift and very notchy
feeling. It had a very short throw and you definately knew when you
were in gear. I didn't like it that much.

I have a Hurst now and love it. It has a much shorter throw than stock
but not as short as the B&M. And it is very smooth.

Try this guy here, his name is ZRChris and ive dealt with him recently through ebay and things went real well, this is the second Hurst ive fitted and its an OK job to do over one or both days of a weekend, while i was underneath and with the exhaust clear i gave the gearbox an oil change.

I'va had both, and I would vote hurst as well. The throw travel on either is substantially reduced. But I agree that the B&M was a bit more tempermental. Never missed third with the Hurst. Shifters are a bit of a PITA to install on the ZF's, relative to other cars, but well worth it. I'm on my 4th C4 and I already have a Hurst on deck just waiting for the exhaust install as well. I can't believe I'm actually planning ahead and saving labor....

By the way ZR Chris is the way to go. It looks like he bumped prices a bit but it is still likely better than Jegs or Summit. Plus you are supporting a fellow ZR1 nut.

Chris knows his stuff - he engineered and designed the shifter, then sold the rights to Hurst - it is by far the best shifter hurst has on the market.

I installed the Hurst when I changed out ZF's. That was easy, right there on the floor to swap shifters. Like it.

is hard to get into gear..it has a notch? click click from one gear to
another...someone at the gathering said, not enough grease when installed...i had it done at a reputable corvette shop..i dunno
with torque on it...almost impossible to get into 3rd gear...and yes
i am pushing the clutch all the way in...

The green car has the Hurst shifter
Whitey has a Billy Boudreau cryoed gear box and his own stock shortened shifter
