I've got a small clutch fluid lead, got under the car & tighted 4 bolts that connect to clutch, thats where it seems to be leaking ( still leaking). Could it just need the gasket ? Sure need some help & where can I get clutch parts. Car only has 10m on miles. From the master cy down all"s fine. Appreciate the help & enterainment from the threads.

Default clutch fluid leak

I'm not following your Q, sorry to be so dense!

The slave is held on by two nuts so what four bolts are you talking about? Did you tighten the bolts that hold the transmission to the bell housing, are those the bolts you're talking about?

Is the fluid coming out of the inspection plate on the bell housing? If yes, it could be from the slave or it could be from the rear main seal on the crank. Is the bottom side of the slave wet? Are you having to add fluid to the reservior on the clutch master frequently?

I would suggest a web site that may be of assistance: ZR51Performance.com is a great source of info. on the zf/6spd and the hydrulic clutch system.

Thx tomtom72, I have to add fluid once every couple years, very small leak, it seems to be coming from the bottom of slave. I'll check the web site you suggested. I need to see a diagram of the whole unit & I,m gonna have to get it up on a rack, can't do squat with it jacked up trying to crawl around under neath. Can you suggest a good place to buy parts if needed, appreciate help. zlegend

Sorry this took so long...my p/c caught some spyware/trojan thing & I didn't want to do anything till I got the situation straightened out.

Anyway parts can be had at any chevy dealer or I use rockauto.com. They are quick! Partsamerica.com I heard is quick also....the hyd parts are not cheap, figure if you have all the OE stuff in there it's time to do it all....hose, clutch master & slave. The hose on 90's is nla, replaced by the 91 hose. The 90 slave is superceeded by a 91 & up slave but the stuff is all the same, 90 bleeder is in a different spot. I used wagner for the master and used raybestos for the slave and got the hose from chevy.

One thing on these parts is way bad Q/Control from the mfg. The slaves have the piston seal installed backwards and I got some metal debris in the ones I bought & also some have found the bores to be pre-scored. Beware that you will have to take the stuff apart to check those issues....unless that stuff has been straightened out by now.

again, sorry for the delay!

Thx again for help tomtom72,no worry for delay, I'm just going to pull everything out & start from there. Gm built this un believable car then stuck that mickey mouse s&%t in there. As I said it,s a 10m mile car, I take my wife out to dinner with it now & then, do a half dozen car shows wait around for someone who wants to challenge the zlegend. Had to take a c5 z06 last week , the youngster was quick out of the gate but the LT5 ran him down, guess he won't be doin those stupid dry revs anymore. appreciate zlegend

Thanks for understanding....I'm not too good with p/c software stuff!

If you have any Q's just post up....the first chevy dealer I called about a slave replacement for my 90 said there were none, they were NLA. I had to go over to the netreg site to get the guy the part number & explain what & why....he didn't believe me till he looked up a 91 slave!

The hyd parts are all the same so no worries. The hose I'm not sure is ava in the aftermarket...but the 91 & up hose is s/s braided, my OE hose was rubber & it had some soft spots. The hose was expensive, I think like $125.00.

Tom

Oh forgot this....get the GM fluid, not brake fluid(DOT3) or the master will squeek!
