Shawn, I hope you get her back on the road soon. I remember the year you purchased your car and gave me the cook's tour at my first CI event three years ago. That's one sweet ride!

The car is still off the road. I have a feeling I'll be up there this weekend to tear into the Beast. We'll get his baby back on the road hopefully in short order.

I'm talking with Mike at ESS, unfortunately his shop isn't ready after his move. I'm tempted to go down there and finish it for him!

Does Prestone even make the original green coolant anymore? The Prestone I bought last week was green but it said it could be added to any type coolant. If that is just as bad as Dexcool, where can you get the original green coolant?
BTW, I don't believe that Dexcool is not causing gasket failure. My 2001 SSEi w/51000 miles just had a lower intake coolant leak and my father-in-law had 2 vehicles (2000 & 2002) within a month that had the same problem. I chose to have the Dexcool sucked out and the green coolan added.

Whats going on with the car? let me know if you need a hand.
I assume if you're considering letting someone do it you've called Jumper to see what Fulcher wants for it.

1. Take it to Mike at ESS.
2. Do it myself.
Option one is more desirable beacuse I know he knows what he's doing! Besides, I've kicked the idea of powder coating around :

Orange, no, green yes, or... what ?
OK... this comes as a shocker... Orange dexcool can mean the demise of a headgasket ? WTF ! Mine has had it for years... I have changed it once... so far, no problems...
My question... What is the best trouble free mix to use in a LT5 ?
Back to green with a major number of flushes to rid the orange ?
or...
Is their some other coolant that will not head destroy gaskets from the inside out ?
This will be money well spent imho...

Ummmmm....Fulcher...Fulcher...? Weren't there some long threads a year or two back about an engine builder named Fulcher that...wellll....had caused some customers real grief? It was either here or on the GTO forum I used to frequent when I had my '67 goat. "Bruce" I believe his name was. Same guy? If not my apologies, but I remember the horror stories of peole not getting engines or parts back.

You can still buy green silicated coolant from your local GM dealer. It's $18 a gallon, but cheap peace of mind.

True. But go to a farm equipment store (TSC up here) and buy Prestone green for tractors!
