Default 24 hour endurance test

Does the ZR-1 still hold the 24 hour endurance test, I thought I read somewhere they were trying to break it with the Lamborgini. Have they tried to break the record with a new Z06 ?

VW raised the bar to 186 a while back... but never produced the car for public consumption. So, It wouldn't be a bold lie to say the 24 hr record is still held by our beloved "production car" !

New records will be attempted, however, I doubt we outsiders will hear about it until after the fact.. Manufacturers have enough negative press to deal with already.

I would love to see a few "tuner" ZR-1s get out there for another shot at the record.
The durability champ is still durable 16 years later !

Only problem is the money... their is no money in resetting the record... and it is cost prohibitive to brag at that level !

I don't think Chevy will try. Think of the fallout if the new Z06 was unable to break the record held by an older Corvette model.

How does that song go?..........Glory days, don't ever let them pass you by, glory days..........

I think the new Z06 is the ****. Who cares if they try to break the record or not. I just don't have $75,000 to spend on a car right now. I moved down to Florida where the housing prices have me broke.

Man, that Johnny Cash movie "Walk the Line" really has me feeling like a rebel. I think a 180 mph blast is in order now. My high speed endurance run will only last for about 30 seconds though.

this issue comes up pretty often. it's cost prohibitive for an "unsponsored" individual to do it just for bragging rights.

chevy won't spend the bucks and even back then EDS kicked in some $$$ and it was a pretty grass roots effort and way cheaper.

a c6r or c5r could do the job pretty ez with the right gearing as the durability is clearly there. as could a zr-1 with the right gears and 450 rwhp.

the nardo had 600 ponies and wasn't even close to being a production car.

if anyone wants to step up with a car and very deep pockets you can get a nice piece of paper for your troubles. not much incentive if you ask me.

what would be cool, is several vendors to offer a competition and fund the track/safety rental. like a gamblers race. that would draw some folks out of the wood work similar to the "players run"

it would be a hoot.

Your not joking there !! I can see us going around the Goodyear tire track in Ohio for 24+ hours.
"I feel a draft" would be precursor to "Whos your Daddy now" ! Followed by, try to pass me now sucker !
How could you ever wipe the smile off your face after that lap session ?
