Default MSD Injectors?

Check out the link below and give me your recommendations. I have never used MSD before and am curious.

They might be fine. I would stick to RC injectors if I was switching from stock - JMO.

FWIW, they are $59 from Summit Racing, and with a $9 S/H charge for the whole order, vs $5 per injector. And they are a bit more well-known and you can return stuff.

But I believe they are exactly the same as the GM 1990-92 secondaries, just in a different package and a bit cheaper. If you just need new secondaries, want to keep the price low and/or want to stay stock, they seem like a nice buy.

I'd just toss out that you can get the '93-95 secondaries for not too much more, though. I got Delphi-branded ones for about $67 per injector. They look basically the same too, and are "updated" over the '90-92 style.

As mentioned the MSD's should work fine. If you have a 90-92 they can only be used as replacements for the
Secondaries.

You can't use the MSD's for the Primary injectors because on the 90-92's the nose of the injector is machined differently.

Some one has mentioned you can use a rubber grommet in the injector housing to make them fit for the Primary injectors but the injector connector is also keyed so you'd need to address that problem.

The specs. for the MSD's are rated @ 43.5lbs of pressure and flow, 21lb/hr, or 220cc/min.

The reason the 90-92 Multec injectors fail is because the injector coils are cooled by the fuel. Some chemical additive in the fuel eats the injector coil insulation and the coil will short out.

Coil windings should measure around 12 ohms hot or cold. Factory specs. say anything from 10-14 ohms is ok.

It's also said that the Secondary injectors have problems if you don't exercise the Secondaries because the tip of the injector pits and causes a bad spray pattern or the injector leaks.

The RC injectors have a stainless steel body so supposedly you will never have the pitting problem.

I'm guessing the RC injectors are made by Lucas.

Supposedly the '93+ style is more resistant to failure, etc. I don't really know, but they did change them, so you could go under the assumption newer is better?

But I don't believe any injectors intentionally have fuel flow over the coils?
