Default Tools.

Recently i have had some tools made up,some ime not even sure what their use is.
In the forefront of the pic are the crank locators, also temp cam retainers.
At the back is the Pulley installer bolt and also a butterfly holder plug, the rest ime not sure about but they are some thing to do with the secondaries.

When i was looking for tools they were either not available or mega expensive(i was quoted $100-300 just for a crank locator,if they could get hold of one),so ive had these made up for me,i did make a few extras to keep the price down but these were still quite expensive.

For example the Crank locator costs £55 to make(around $95,exchange rate allowing,a killer )

I wont add anything on but if any of you guys get stuck you know where the tools can be had as when i was looking it was like banging my head against a brick wall.

The "mistery" tool is a secondary plate shaft installer/remover.

You can see all of them pictured in the service manual, and also a description of how these work. (I assume you have a manual, right?)

Cheers!

I will have a chat with them after the holidays and try to put together a "set" price, they are quality tool makers and ime going to try to get some brake brackets made for aftermarket brakes aswell.

Like i say i dont want to make anything out of it as its my way of paying back the forum for the help ive had from it.

Also thanks to Jordi who without his tools and help this would not be possible.

Seasonal wishes
Cliff

Same here. I have a machinist who could make this stuff very reasonably if I could get a loaner set from someone. Any interest? I could sure use a set.

I didnt think of this before but possibly another way around it and to make things cheaper is if i send a part at a time to someone with access to a machine shop in the USA.

As you can appreciate its the $ to the £ that makes it heavy going for you guys and as part of the "ZR-1 help each other out school of thought" it might just bring the cost down a little plus knock the shipping down (why should we line the pockets of the tax, duty and shipping Co's ) .

The aim here is to make readily available the much needed specialist tools amongst ourselves without making a profit.

I'm sure that could be done, pm me if interested, I can either get his # for you or I can bring them to him and see what it would take???
It would be nice if we all had a set should we need them without breaking the bank.

Have the part labeled "engineering prototypes" with a price of zero. That way you won't pay customs fees. I used to do that with lots of parts shipped overseas and was never charged customs.

Happy Holidays to everyone, too!

If it's okay with you all put me in the "interested in buying a set" group, please. I'll admit I don't know what all to do with them but it seems if you don't have them you're not working on an LT5.

Thanks Cliff, and everyone else for the effort on doing this for the ZR-1 owners out here.

Interested in set. I also have a friend thats a specialty tool machinist. Will ask him about numbers compared to prices. Many = less price.
