Default At last ime under way again.

Hi hope everyones OK and healthy,
Ive got a chain of things i want to do before i can tune the chip on my Z,the auto electrician turned up today and we got started on moving the battery and lengthening the wires for the power pack to get it away from the plenum,i want plenum removal to be a quick easy 10 minute job so i can get in and iron out vacum leaks or sort problems quickly without having to muck about with removing electrical plugs.

Ive snapped the auto sparky conecting and soldering wires before covering with shrink wrap.

Wired in the AFR meter, lengthened the wires on the power pack and then i put the plenum back on (took no time at all) charged the battery and spun her over and she purred, ive got the revs down to just below 1,000 so it seems like there was a vacum leak somewhere before.

Weve just got to find some heavy duty wire for the battery location and thats that....what thickness are the wires in the marc haibeck kit?
Thanks

p.s.Ime well pleased as i feel that ime not far off having her set up now although the clutch feels very soft and spongey??

You want to use 1 or 0 (even better) gauge for your battery cable..

Cliff,

It would be better to run a wire straight from the starter down the passenger side to the battery in the rear....That will give the shortest distance.

The car is another German import that has ended up in the UK.. ive known of the last 2 owners and both have looked after the car well, when i first saw the car up for sale it got my attention and the price is within my reach perhaps lower than the market value.

I figured maybe now would be the best time to buy and have always missed the standard side of the ZR-1,its great having a noisey modified one but there are times when i would like to come and go in a descreet manner ...ive done the apprenticeship on my 90 and with the amount of money ive spent on that one i could never warrant returning it to standard, that one 1799 will always be with me and a special car however this lovely red example(ive mentioned it more than once how i would like a red 91 ZR-1) will become my daily driver and will cover around 5,000 miles per year, every thing will remain standard except the exhaust and after the mechanical apprenticeship served on my 90 will be more than a match for maintaining her and ironing out any small jobs that need doing....the light on the back is a uk regulation 'Fog Lamp' and if it hasnt got a hinged joint that will be my first job,the guy i am purchasing the car from has really babied the car....best bits to come...its a 300mile return journey

It kind of crept up on me too but the time just seems right for me to have this beauty aswell,i know the ZR-1 is my marque in life so it wasnt a hard choice...all i need to do now is find a stock 91 exhaust system and get her as near perfect as possible, although the owner has looked after her well.

You're welcome Cliff. That's a little "back yard engineering" but it did help my vacuum leak.
