Default WTB:Camber Brace

Do any of you guys know where I can buy a Camber Brace. The one that bolts in between the shock towers? Any help would be great.

I saw one this weekend and it rubbed into the oil filter housing and it is not pretty! and the owner said it didnt really do any good other than saves the insides of the tires a bit, but the damage is done to his oil filter housing

Im not sure if it was from RD but Im pretty sure it was, also this one bolts to the upper A arm bolt

I have one - it is a tight fit to be sure (what isn't with the LT5?) - I have zero issues with rubbing anything, and it tightens the front end up nicely.

If you see him again, tell him to give me a call. We've had zero reports of any problems with the LT-5 Camber-brace. It sounds like there may be an installation problem.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave ill fwd this to him but I dont know if its a install problem what I do know is he races alot and it looks like the motor moving on the engine mounts is what caused it it was "clear" of the oil filter housing but it has damaged it. but when the car is sitting there its not touching.

but ill get ahold of him and let him know

Thanks!

It sounds like he may have an engine mount problem. He may want to consider solid mounts??

There's not much use for it when you're going in a straight line. I installed it for doing 120 degree turns at 60+ miles an hour. It ruined my oil filter housing. It's too late now to do anything about it.

Mark,

Is your brace the one that was mentioned above? Can you email me some pictures? We got over a hundred plus of this model that's been sold and this is the first problem that has ever been reported.

Please drop me an email with some details to when you first noticed the problem along with the pictures.

Thanks,
Dave

I have the brace and there isnt any other ZR1 that gets more stress than mine. The camber brace fit has small tolerances, but no rubbing etc issues for me. I also would like to see pictures. Do you have worn or damaged engine mounts?

Just looked at mine, it's been rubbing the housing where the Tru Arc snap ring goes in. I don't think it's a motor mount issue, the clearance wasn't there to begin with and now is minimal. I'll have to pull it off and grind the brace for clearance. If it's allowed to continue, the snap ring groove will get hammered or damaged. Glad I saw this thread.

Looks like the brace needs to be more rigid? I'm not going to drive my but maybe a few hundred miles a year if that but I don't want to have to worry about anything. Keep us posted on any improvements.

I don't think that it's an issue with rigidity or the material, but maybe a clearance problem. We may need to cut more of a releif in the area to allow for engine movement.

If anyone is going to be at the CF Cruise-in, I'd like to take a look at your installation's. I'll be there Wed. afternoon and all day on Thursday, so drop me an email before the event and I'll give you my cell number so we can meet up.

Thanks,
Dave

I ground some clearance in the brace a while back , haven't watched it lately. I put some dykem blue on the aluminum and steel areas. I race Sunday and will watch for any interference. If there is going to be any redesign, I had to pull the alternator recently any there was a bolt that needed to come out. The brace was in the way any had to be removed. I think maybe a jog of hole in the brace would have saved me some work. I guess nothing's perfect.
