Default ZR-1 Engine Pre-oiler.

I always thought it would be a good idea to install a pre-oiler in my 1990 ZR-1. That way I could build some oil pressure before I start it. I was once told by an airplane mechanic that most of the wear on an engine occurs during startup and that having oil pressure before starting may greatly extend the life of any engine.

I never got around to installing one. I noticed that Summit carries a couple general purpose pre-oiler models.

Any comments and suggestions are appreciated.
Should I?
What to buy?
Where to buy?
Where to install it? (ZR-1's easy access to oil cooler line placement looks inviting to me).

Thanks,
Howard

I've seen the size of one that Summit sells. If you can find a place to install it, Id be impressed.

I once saw one installed right behind the front bumper infront of the radiator overflow tank. If I'm not mistaken it was in an old KOTH issue from the ZR-1 registry. The install looked very clean and supposedly worked well.

Would be cool but could create problems if not installed or maintained properly.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about wear startup or otherwise, the motor is plenty capable of going 200,000+ miles without the luber.

I have the one from summit on mine I installed it in place of the windshield wiper bottle. Before I put it on the cams would rattle when you first started the engine afterword you heard nothing but purty music. I would bet you would save a lot of engine wear by installing one

I have a preoil pump, but you could also use an accumulator.
