It's being phased out and they want you to convert to HFc134A. Pretty soon you won't be able to buy that either making the only way to get your a/c charged is to get **** raped by a dealer or service center. Gotta love that unkle sam. he's turning more "red" by the day eh comrade.

Is hfc134a diff than r134 if not why has it gone up from 50 to 300 a tank in 2 weeks. If it is diff wher do you get hfc134 and why the sudden change

yea it doesn't have the chlorine molecule in it = less ozone depletion. I have converted countless cars over, all you need is a kit from the Zone. AutoZone haha. But serioisly to do it right you should change the orifice in the evaporator. After that I'd say it works even better than R-34

Let's not be to hard on Uncle Sam. It's the save the earth people behind the cost increase. And if you search it even further back, Dupont who holds the patent on freon is backing the save the earth people even though they don't know it!

I missed the boat on R12 15 years ago when I could have stocked up on it for $1/can, not this time with R134...
Everytime I find R134a on sale somewhere (Walmart, Big Lots, etc) I buy a few cans and stack them in the garage... Last stuff I picked up was $2.50/can...
After I paid $50/lb for R12 several years ago, I'm never getting caught with my pants down again...

Of course my AC has worked flawlessly but I am sure once I sell the tank that my AC will go kaput

I just bought 4, 30 lb bottles of it from Autozone for $250 a bottle. All the others were $300. They are saying it will go up to $400 a bottle by summer. Also gas may go up to $2.60 (average throughout the country) by summer. Bend over and smile.
