Here's a way around burning chips

Add an Ostrich to a C4 along with TunerPro RT or TunerCat RT software and you'd be surprised !!! Also I offer new slot style MAF's (1985 thru 1989) that can easily support 1000 RWHP. I also offer 2 or 3 BAR tunes for the 1990/91 and if you get into the LTx's there are even more options. All of this is easily done w/o an aftermarket ECM.
I understand your reluctance to deal with C4's but expertise is available and the hardware is actually pretty good. It always comes down to money and I know better than most what a difficult business this is !!!!!!!!!!! greg

If it plugs into the chip slot, how do you fit the ECM back up inside the dash?

It comes with a flat cable, where one end of the cable mounts just like a chip in the ECM and the other end goes to the Ostrich. You then connect the Ostrich to the laptop for editing/uploading the tune through an USB port in the Ostrich.

I have not tried yet, but I'm fairly certain I can mount the ECM in the original position with the cable hanging out of the ECM. The I'll just need to make something for the Ostrich.

My plan is to use the Ostrich untill I'm satisfied with the tune and then I'll burn a chip. Primarily because I have other cars I can use the Ostrich in.

It took me about 10 minutes to drop the ECM, install the Ostrich and figure out how to upload a tune through Tunerpro.

Ofcourse it might help having a background as an embedded software engineer, but I don't think most people would have any problems with it.

It replaces the EPROM chip in your ECM that contains the tune parameters. It can then be connected to a laptop via USB and allows you to change the tune 'on-the-fly', in real time while the motor is running..

Note i never had a chip burned - i just have had the ostrich plugged in there for 5 years.

Seems to hold up great under the hood, heat, dust. Etc

I prob will get a chip burned just as a backup

Yes, I use it on my '87.

The Ostrich combined with the Blowerworks MAF upgrade makes the old L98 (165) platform ready for HP quickly and easy

Has anyone used this on a '93 LT1? I have all the moates stuff but need a computer guru to help me use it all here in Michigan. So this new deadly is used instead of the bypass chip thing I originally bought?

Thanks for the answer but I typed the wrong year. It should be 1989. And does it replace the Eprom completely.

I take it there's no learn capability, outside of the block Learn in the ECM?

Do you know if it will work on 1989 And if it does do you have to tune it immediately after installing it.
