You may be getting an excessive amount of blow by due to ring failue. But that's just a guess. How long have you had the 383? When did this start happening? Are you burning any oil? the more info the better.

You weren't reving the engine past 3K or so when you were breaking it in were you??? How many miles are on the engine? You need to give it a good 500 miles atleast of break in time for the rings, running regular oil, not synthetic. Also talking to the shop that did the work would also help. I'm assuming that they will stand behind their work, atleast a little.

My engine builder said break it in the way you going to drive it .......drive it hard if you like just DON'T GET IT HOT.....blow by is part of supercharging the more boost the more blow by, even with a newer engine you just have to deal with it by venting the engine or with high boost, with a vac pump.

Are you at LEAST running breathers on each valve cover???? if your building a lot of boost it may be vacuum pump time..

My guess is not blow by, but a blown head gasket. Sounds like its blown between a cylinder and a oil passage. Happen once on my GN and it had the same symptoms.

Good luck.
