Default MSD Q's

I did a forum search on MSD Ign. and didn't find anything.

I have a few questions:

With my mods, will I see a HP increase if I get an MSD box and coil?

Is it worth the $$$ ?

Will it screw up the Opti-spark?

What aftermarket ign. (if any) do you have?

Horror stories?

Thanks everybody!

I'm running an msd with my vette, and have had no problems with the opti so far, so i hope that answers that part of your question. As for buying the msd..... If you're gonna do some big mods etc then i think it's deff worth the money. just my opinion.

I used an MSD 6AL on my 90. As I did it with a gear change I can not say what differance it made at the track. The hookup was easy using the harness specifically for my car. the hard part is finding a place to putit on the 90 as the computer is above the battery. I placed mine in the well for the driverside headlight. It is an easy mod that you can do yourself and is helpfule if you spend a lot of time in the upper RPM band

I have the MSD on my 92. Where it seems to help the most is the idle. My car has always idled funny and I have worked with all the crap trying to keep it straight. This box has really helped there. I also have fewer jutters/or slight misses through the power band. I like it! Easy install too!

If youre going to do anything else to the engine, yes.

With what you have now, I dont think its worth the expense.

The ign sys on Chevy V8's is very adequate. All you have to do is keep it healthy. Wires, plugs, etc.
The only time you will need more spark energy would be if you go NOS or some form of forced induction sys. On a typical street/production car,.. there are no performace gains. Even if you were to swap in another street cam, you still wouldn't need it.
Mostly they are there to look pretty.
