Default garage door opener not working

My remote garage door opener dosen't work when I'm in my vette. Could it be the transmitter for my remote on the car crossing up the signal from the opener? The opener works fine when I'm in all my other vehicles.

Does it make a difference if the car is running or not???

I had a car in the past that used to cause RF interferrence to garage doors and car alarms if it was running... It had a faulty alternator and stopped doing it a couple years later when the alternator was replaced...

I guess l will be turning the car off to get in to my garage until my alternater stops chargering. Is that the only thing you changed when your opener stared to work again?

I have gone through two garage door openers but never had a problem with
it working with the engine on. Try to change the frequency on the opener
and on the motor.

easier to change the frequency on the opener. To properly change the frequency on the motor requires a new cam!! :jester :seeya

Not everyone has the same problem... When the alternator puts out RF noise it usually does so over a wide frequency range... If he can change his frequency and it's out of the range of the RF interferrence the alternator is putting out then that's great and he should try that but more than likely the freqs available on the opener are pretty close together, so it usually doesn't help...

I've only seen this problem on two cars, one was mine, the other was a friend's... It's not that common, but when it occurs it' a PITA to track down because you don't get any other signs other than your garage door not working...
