Default Aftermarket seat install Brown Truck was here today

Look what the brown truck brought today. I bought these without knowing the size so i grabbed my tape mesure when they got here and there 20 1/2 inches widest point on bottom of seat.Has anyone made apapter for seats before? Im going to make up adapters to use stock seat rails.I'll post diagrams of braketing and let you know if i lost any head room.I can get more of these if you want some $220.00 with univeral slider witch i will not use unless i have to.plus oversize shipping is around $90.I think they will look kewl they have no big r on them so rice was not imported in this swap out

Agreed!

More detail - sounds like a good price - what kind of adjustments do they have (lumbar, seatback, etc) - also, what fabric is available? I was looking at Corbeau but they are about $100 more for a comparable style seat - this might be what I'm looking for my "tired" seats!

Hey -

Took the liberty of "massaging" your pic - here's the result (notice the cat is gone!)

I kind of like my cat in the picture she is real shy everyone forgets I have her she is hardly ever out when other people are around or when the dogs are in the house.

Ok here is more info

They recline back completely will a roll dial pictured below. There is no lumbar adjustment. Im going to modify my stock rails to fit i think unless i run into a problem tomorrow .They are made of memory foam and the frame it tube that is tig welded. I figure if i can use my stock driver side power slider without too much loss in headroom it would be nice. Pass side will be manual. Ill make up drawings and a parts list for sliders when i'm done.Even if i have to build new ones . Buy the way $220 is for pair i made a mistake earlier rails are not included they are $11.00ea.They are available in leather (add $100per pair)viynl(add $60perpair)
yellow,blue,red,and black two tone combinations
this site has same thing but thier 23" wide http://www.airdynamicracing.com/
they are a little higher with them but they probably buy more from dist.I have only bought one pair.I called them first and they made a mistake forwarding me a email from the dist and i set myself up. Created Gif image see top post

crash, not to poop on your parade, but a tube frame seat can be a very dangerous problem if you get into a wreck. The foam feels nice when you're driving, but compresses very easily when subjected to the force generated by your body in a high g load. There's a reason that they only cost as little as they do. I have heard about this over the years, and have come close to defying the logic, but after a friend of mine busted a few ribs from a lateral g load, I never considered them again. IMO, for a street driven car you can get a away with a good ($$$) adjustable aftermarket seat, or you would be better off staying with an OE seat.

i think it is solid i just tried to crush it with a pair of vice grips and no bend not even a impression just scratched the paint.Lokks like im going to make custom slider brakets i got the passinger seat placed and it just doesnt sit low enough.Im trying to gain head room im 6ft6 and stock seats ar horrid for tall people.Im going to run these till i save up enough for recaros.Hell their better than apc seats i seen several corvetts with those in them. Also Im going to have to put harnesses in or manual adjust belts.o make a new braket for the belts.

How are your seats coming along. Do you have any pics. I'm very interested in your conversion.

Ok guys i moved bracket to driver side and installed .I actually gained about a 1/4 head room .I had to remove the adjusters from side I'm going to machine new ones that are smaller. if you remove dials on side you cold use the stock seat belt. But i felt like putting a rci harness in .L made the brackets with 1.25x1/4 steel same thickness for the angle iron in-front I had to use a 1" spacer in front to get seat angle right.I would suggest if you do this buy some spacers for fine tuning .I'li give measurements later tomorrow when i build the second bracket tomorrow or over the weekend. The power seat will not work so you have to build bracket for both sides .
