Default Wind Deflectors

Has anyone tried the wind deflectors that mount between the outside mirror and the windshield frame. I find I get alot of wind noise and cockpit wind at any speed over 40mph.

Just wondering if they help.

My car came with them. They work, but not enough to defile the lines of the car, in my opinion. I removed them when I painted the car.

If you want them, they're yours for the cost of Shipping, let me know, I just have to have my mom dig them out of storage...

I had considered them once, but dropped the idea because I feared it might detract from the stock look. I would like to hear what others have to say as well.......

I think they were stock on convertables. Thrills has them on her Ruby, I think they're even painted ruby, and they didn't look too bad.

On my coupe, it being gold and them being black, I thought it looked horrible.

I'm no fashion king, so I put them on with the sticky tape first, they really quieted down my Vette esp when I drive into the wind. I also like them because I can crack the windows and smoke my cigar without a bunch of cab turbulance. After a couple months I rivieted them into place. I'd rank them up there woth the improved shade clips. BTW, I've heard the genuine GM deflectors are better, I bought the Mid-America ones, they are not perfect.

I installed them on my old Z07 car and they worked great - reduced the wind turbulance by about half. You can paint them to match your car if you like. You could also have a body shop fill in the seam and then paint to match if you want a really clean look.

Thanks to all. My 95 is black so they should match somewhat. Where can you get the stock GM version. I've only seen the aftermarket version.

Try your local dealer. You might still want to paint them, I believe they are a matte black finish, so you might possibly want them to match your paintjob.

If you get the GM ones go ahead and paint them, the sun will fade them.

The ones on my car in the signature picture are from Corevette Central they suck, thin molded plastic. I like the GM ones much better, there thicker plastic, just wish I would have painted them before I installed them :smash:

Edit: BTW they do help a lot with the wind noise :seeya

I've driven C4s with them and without them. My '87 has them. The make an incredible difference!! Without them I'm blasted in the face with wind, with them I'm not and I can carry on a conversation with ease. Especially when the top is off there is much less wind buffeting.

I put them on late last year and noticed that I can lower the window futrher with less noise. But I sit with the seat full back so didn't notice any reduction in wind noise with the top off.

I have my seat all the way back too. I use a Windjammer, without it, I agree, it's too loud.

I installed them on my 85 and they work pretty good. One additional benefit is the fact that it covers the space between the mirror housing and the door. so when you glance at your mirror you get a quicker aquisition of the actual reflection.
