Try again. I just didn't notice the dates on the post(s).

Some other nimrod pulled it up.

My motivation is the desire to use a sealer on my runner gaskets. But, because feedback is strong enough AGAINST the use of silicone sealers on an intake, it seemed worth posting. I'm sure silicone works for awhile, but does it work for 5 or 10 yrs?

I'm the nimrod,I guess theres something wrong with me wanting to do reserch,so when I do my intake it doesn't leak.Well it's six years old so how can it work now.I guess I better use a new thread that will work better.
So what ever you and the other guy are into it about leave me out and also the name calling please.
If you look I put the popcorn thing, just so I could go back and find it.

This is what I did because when I took the manifold off the original gaskets were saturated with coolant around the water ports and I didn't want another leak in that area in the future.

The gasket set I bought (I think it was Fel-Pro) did not come with end gaskets. They supplied a small tube of silicone sealer, which I used.

Is it necessary to drain coolant to R & R an Lt1 intake manifold? I've got conflicting info. The FSM says drain coolant. Thanks!

Yes, you need to drain the coolant or it will dump into the engine when you break the seal on the intake manifold. EDIT: DOH! I was thinking L98..... Never mind.

Not on an LT1 its a dry intake

No intake coolant ports so no way to leak coolant.

There is no coolant running through an LT1/4 intake manifold.

If the throttle body coolant line is still in place, you would need to remove a little coolant.

If the throttle body coolant line has been bypassed, no need to remove any coolant.
