I removed the oil splash tray from the bottom and took mine to an engine builder for professional cleaning as a preliminary step.
After that you can use some Eagle 1 and scotch brite to buff it up if desired.
For stubourn spots a small wire wheel on a Dremel gets the job done.

Tony,
if your just trying to get the racing crud I left on there. :D Sorry by the way. Get a tub, about 20 cans of brake cleaner (ok maybe not 20, a few) set the manifold in the tub, and spray it down with the brake cleaner. Let it set, and then take a stiff brissle brush and scrub it a little. Keep sopping up the brake clean and rub it into the dirty areas. Give it a good rinse and all the dust and grime will be off and it will look like new.
If your planning on going with a polished look. First let me say your NUTS  as you will not see it very much under the SR intake. Save your time and effort.
See my sig, that is all I did with the stuff before I put it on the 406, it looked pretty good and clean then. right?

On the rough surfaces of my plenum, runner and intake, I just used a wire wheel on a drill. Was nice and shiny for a summer, until all the pits filled with crud :( It was quick and easy though...

cool cool. Thanx everyone!
Nah... your stuff is clean enough (dont worry though, im being thoroughly **** in cleaning it again, LOL). You should SEE the crap that is on my old manifold/heads though. If I ever decide I want to sell my old stuff, I should clean some of the GREASE and grime that is on there. They are nearly black in some places....

Took my intake manifold to a professional sand blaster using proper media. Looked great. $30. Yellow pages-"Sandblasting".
I hate scrubbing.

Actually, bead blasting is fantastic for aluminum. That may be what the post above is referring to. Any machine shop will do this for you. You may also want to use some high-temp clear coat to prevent more stains/dirt.

When I had mine off, I used some simple green and my pressure washer. It worked great and looked new when done.
