Check the relay for the defogger in the fuse panel. Should be one of the large ones on the right hand side.

My experiences with the defogger is a burned connection to the spade lugs on the wires from the glass to the strut. There is 24 amps flowing through the wndow conductors and the spade lug is overloaded and gets so hot it causes oxidation and disconnects the wire to lug crimp.

I have one wire in my Corvette that does not work, I suspect it's the continuity. If so, can it be repaired or will I have to replace the whole rear glass?

You'll need to find out where on the line the break is. A DVM will help you do that. There are kits available for repair of the defogger lines. It's a mixture of metal particles and adhesive. You also get a template for the repair.
Edit: You do not have to replace the glass.

I've seen some grids that were damaged so bad and the repair kit results so shabby the guy ended up buying a replacement hatch glass from the salvage yard.

I second the vote on the female spade connector at the corner of the rear hatch. Radio Shack had the replacement. I only had to replace one of mine. It was pretty burnt up.
