Wish I knew. I was looking at replacing this cable on my 93 and it looked to be a royal pita. The terminal end on the battery had a good amount of corrosion, but luckily it cleaned up well and still worked. Have a new cable sitting in the garage just in case it finally goes out. Good luck.

 Wish I could give you a definitive answer, but never having had to do itI can only suggest how I might approach it. I am assuming you have checked Helms or Haynes and found nothing satisfactory.

Pull the distributor cap, this will open up a larger viewing and working area behind the ditributor. I suspect strongly that there is a clamp of some sort at the back of the engine.

The clamp woul hold the cable in place as engine and car were mated during assembly.

Perhaps someone who has done it will come along

at least I got you TTT

If yours is the same as my 87, there is a clamp around the cable and it is held down by one of the bellhousing bolts on the passenger side.
