Daylight running lights - DRL in Canada
I just imported a 1994 Corvette into Canada from Arizonza. To pass the Canadian inspection, the car needs daylight running lights to be on when the ignition is on. I understand the 1994 Canadian models have a light sensor that turn on the front turn signal lights (and fog lights??) when the ignition is on... but also turn on the headlights at dusk or darkness.
Can anyone in Canada tell me what DLRs are like on their C4?
Can anyone advise of a safe modification so DRL will meet the Canadian inspection. I don't want to activate the head lights, only the front turn signal and/or the fog lights to serve as DLR.
I've talked to the local Chev deal and have been told the work would cost $300 part & $300 labour, but of course they have never done this conversion before. My brother-in-law was able to do this to a Chrysler van with a $30 part that he installed himself.
Any advice is appreciated.

When I start my '95 in daylight, the front signal lights come on so you have two bright yellow DRLs. I believe this is all that's required for the Canadian law. Once it gets dark, the sensor on top of the dash signals the headlights/taillights to come on. Lots of cars have this feature, US and Canadian.
BTW, if I start the car with the parking brake on the DRLs don't light.

Ecklers or Mid America (can't remember which one) has a kit that just plugs in for around $150 that does the DRL function. Little more money than the $30, but it is a plug in unit o you don't have to worry about frying anything and it is a lot cheaper than the dealership. You can also take it out if you sell the car backk to the States without a problem. Just an idea.
