C4 Aftermarket Seat options?
OK, I slide all over the place in my 95's factory leathers, even with 5-pt harnesses.
I'd like to see what aftermarket seats have been successfully installed into late model C4's, and general opinions on comfort, ease of installation, and price.
I'm looking for a "competition" type seat for road-course and autocross driving, but it still needs to work on the street with the factory belts (still installed), if possible. Not a daily driver, but drives to track events can be several hours long.

I've seen the Corbeau Forza's in an '89 and also Cobra Evo2's I think was what replaced them. I'm considering buying the used Corbeaus for me and am curious about the long distance ride quality.
Seat rails are available, but most adapt the manual sliders to these seats.

Re: C4 Aftermarket Seat options? (z07lt1)
The '91 Sport seats are a good solution. They have high side bolsters, adjustable side wings and the air bladders to make them fit like a glove.
I still use them on my car, and have no problems with moving around in the seat. I bought a used bottom cushion and cut the hole (with plastic grommet) for the anti-submarine belt (I guess that is a better marketing term then "crotch-belt). The cushion change takes about 5 minutes tops.
The stock sports seats will also just bolt right into your car....something to consider.

Re: C4 Aftermarket Seat options? (Joe90)
Thanks for the tip, Joe90... Actually, I have a set of '92 sport seats available to try, from a friend who's setting up his car for track only, and has already done a seat swap. He used OMP seats, which aren't bad if you don't have a helmet on, but the seatback pushes your head a bit too far forward when helmeted.
But maybe I should try one of the sport seats as a temporary fix. I already cut my bottom cushions for the sub strap, and used a sturdy bar across the front seat mounting bolts to mount it at the correct angle, but with the regular seats, even cranking the belts down so hard I can hardly breath doesn't help keep my abdomen from wanting to slide sideways out of the seat (and it isn't THAT big!). ;)

I have a few post with my aftermarket seats.
They have been good for a 2 hour drive.

Re: C4 Aftermarket Seat options? (comp94)
I'm not sure whether a CR1 will fit... A Corbeau dealer told me they usually recommend the A4 or Forza for the C4 Vette, but the CR1 does look a little nicer.
If I went with the A4, I'd probably need the "wide" version, and I'm not sure whether that would fit in the car. The CR1 looks like a nice seat if 1) it will fit in the car, and 2) it will fit around my butt. I'm about a 38" waist, and the CR1 says "34-36", while the A4 says "32-34".
How much extra room is there with the A4 seats for a width increase?
Last thing is that I really need to use full, 5-point belts, and both the CR1 and A4 are set up for only 4-point. I guess I can always cut a slot like I did on the stock seats.

zo7lt1: your right i just looked on their web site and the CR1 is a little bit wider than the A4 but they both say that they will only fit up too a 34" waist unless you get the wide version, wich is only aviable in black hear are the links
A4: http://www.corbeau.com/brochure/A4.shtml
CR1: http://www.corbeau.com/brochure/cr1.shtml
the CR1 is also $80 per seat more that tne A4.

I slide all over with my 92 sport seats and will be upgrading to the Sparco Evo's shortly. CorvetteZ51Racer has the Corbeau's and they are starting to come undone. I would spend the extra cash and get the Sparco's.

Re: C4 Aftermarket Seat options? (luvmy92)
I think the CR1 are too wide for my 89.
My experience has been:
The Corbeau bracket does not line up that well.
I had problems with the factory seat belts and the brake on the driver’s side.
To solve a couple of problems I modified the power seat unit.
With some 3" iron bar (Thickness I for get) to connect on seats and power unit together.
The down side to this mod is you sit 1" higher.
The up side is the power seat unit works.
The reason I got the A4's they recline and have a small width.
The seats cost me about $350 each.
I have not had any problem with a long drive (2 hours)
I forgot one option for my seats I should have gotten was the lumbar support. For an extra $60

I set a Sparco Evo II in my car. The Evo II was a tight fit, and it blocked the emergency brake handle.
