SR to MR results
Update from the previous SR vs MR post.
Took the Super Ram off and installed the Mini Ram on the car 2 weeks ago.
Same TB, air intake, timing, fuel pressure, injector size, 219 LPE cam, gears, conv, tire pressure, starting line stall, even used the same lane at the track.....
First time out last week, weather was about the same as most of the summer 2000+ DA. ETs were about the same for these conditions 10.70s but the MPH was up to a tick under 127 from 124-5 with the SR, 60s only off .02-3 could have been the track. Only made 3 runs, didn't change anything in the tune.
This Sunday I went to MIR for the test & tune, first pass with no changes 10.56 @ 127.2! From that baseline I played with the timing & fuel pressure for the rest of the day. Added a little more advance & fuel pressure and hit a new best of 10.49 @ 128.28mph. This was coupled with new best 60' of 1.37 and the 1/8th picked up to 6.62 @ 101.8 another best. Nothing slower than the first run.
Assuming the weather was good for a little, maybe .02-.05, that would account for some of the gain. I think the MPH gains are nearly all MR related, maybe the SR would have picked up some yesterday, but not this much. As for the the thoughts of low end torque loss with the MR, it's just not happening! Maybe on a mostly stock 350 with a mild cam you'd lose something, but larger engines with mods it's not noticeable. I don't think the car would have produced a new best 60' if it was down on torque a bunch.
Future mods: the car definately needs more cam to take advantage of the upper rpm capability of the MR, still nosing over around 1000'. EGTs are high so it might need more fuel too.
Times running out for the drag racing season here, so get out there & race!

that is an amazing progression Dave.
I know you're a big e.t. guy like most of the other drag guys here, but how can you not LOVE that 128 mph ? ?

Dave you did this with the Brodix T1's?
Awesome, I think the bigger heads work well with the MR.
What are your rear gears if I may ask?

Jay,
128, Warp 2 will do just fine :jester
Paul,
EGT pulled from the primary tube, 1470-1510*, haven't decided on the fate of the SR yet, might need it on my truck:lol:.
Id85,
Yes, I'm using the 215cc Brodix T1s & a 4.10 gear .

Re: SR to MR results (hookedup)
Is this with an Auto or stick?
If Auto your another guy with great results with the MR. :)
Kamarossrs is running 11.5 (hardly a tune) with a 383 Auto & Miniram, so much for people saying the MR doesn't work well with a automatic.

Re: SR to MR results (Mr. Magoo)
Dave,
I heard about your playing with the MR. I am frankly VERY VERY suprised at your gains, especially on the short side (60' area).
Do you think its possible. Even though your pulling the front off the ground, that you still might be spinning a little? And with the MR its not. Hence the better 60' times. I know I spin and from the people watching cork and I this weekend, both of us also are pulling the fronts off. Obviously not as much as you are, but still all the weight is on the back tires.
WIsh I had a set of 28" tires to try out, you guys, seem to be havig real good luck with them. I also have those camber brackets, and have not put them on yet. I was sorta waiting to try the single plane intake out.
Well you really have my hopes up for that testing now. As the MR has much shorter runners than compared to the single plane, so I am hoping we retain as much bottom end as you did or even more.
You are right though. Time is running out, REAL QUICK :cry
Good report!

Re: SR to MR results (hookedup)
I have been a believer all along that the MR would get Dave's (Hookedup) car down the track quicker. The result were NOT a surprise. Sometimes those SIM's are misleading. I would even stick my neck out and say that the split duration ZZ9 cam would work better than the 219.
I will not spill the beans, because Dave has not posted the results yet. As you will see he is making more HP. This was without a cam ,gear or convertor change.
The price of my MR just went up a $100.
What do you want for Xmas?

Re: SR to MR results (MITCH)
Mitch,
There has to be a problem there somewhere! Keep at it and I know it'll come around, your engine combo is almost identical to mine. Does that cam really have 116 LSA?
Magoo,
Auto, TH350 & Coan converter.
Bill,
Care to share your cam details? I'm getting ready to order something from Comp today. You can post or email me.
Jesse,
I told you to buy my 28" MTs, they're still in the basement and they got me in the 10s! :yesnod: :yesnod:
Phil,
You were right again :hurray: looking forward to dyno day!
Lets go racin', Dave :D

Re: SR to MR results (wheelsup)
Dave, that is just incredible!!! Not that i didn't think the MR was going to help, it's just that you threw it on and it worked without even changing the tune up!!!!!! The sim was right on (10.48 @ 127 was the prediction), but the sim assumes a perfect tune, and you can't be even close to that. Maybe it aint the cam giving up at the top, maybe you're running out of fuel or experiencing float. And even if it is the cam...that 219 is pretty damn versitile....it works in mild 350s like mine or ***** out 420s like yours. I'd like to see what it would do with a good tune.

Ralph,
What sim are you using? That thing & you are amazing with the predictions! I want a copy :yesnod:
Magoo,
You're right that cam smokes! Considering this is still a street engine(219, 10.5-11 CR, EFI, ECM) you gotta' believe in it.
