:D

Cost will get up there. If your having someone else do it add even more. Its not cheap to go fast.

:iagree:

I'm doing a 383 now and hoping for the same #'s as you, I did none of the work myself, the engine is in the 10,000 range.

That didn't include some of the things I already had, Long tube headers, 54mm throttle body, etc..
and some of the things that had to be purchased Accel DFI, new radiator, some suspension mods, etc...

I don't want to total it up, but it better fly :smash:

If I swapped my cam to the CC306 I'd probably be there. I would probably go with a custom grind though.

600 fwhp takes BIG bucks to achieve and even more planning to obtain.

It can be done, but it must be done correctly, and that takes a good game plan, and some $$.

The guy I bought my 383, blower and full exhaust from spent originally almost 15 thousand on this combo. Sorry this combo isn't N/A.

Ok, lets get this going: Heads, you'll need heads. AFR 210's and a 396 stroker, as for cam the good'ol CC306 should do it. Of course the basic stuff should be there too, like long tubes, 58mm TB, good exahust, valve train (rr & chain) , p&p intake, injectors, etc, etc...
Rough estimate:
Stroker ~$3000
Heads ~$3000
Cam ~$300
Headers ~$500
Exhaust ~$700
58mm TB ~$300
Valve train ~$500
Injectors ~$300

So right here are $8600 plus you have to count for all the other misc stuff like gaskets, tunning, new clutch to handle the power, and all that crap. In the end it will be $10000.

Hope it gives you an idea of what to expect, although this combo will give you a lot more than 400rwhp n/a.

Instead of going with a 383 stroker, why not just snag a 400sbc and punch it to 406. Wouldn't this be cheaper and make more power?

I picked up a 400sbc w/steel crank for $75 here locally.

...and new pistons for the motor as well...aka total rebuild.

You won't be able to get both combinations to work with the same parts. To make the RWHP figure, you'll need to bump the compression ratio up. That makes it "nearly" impossible to do the turbo setup without new pistons, so then the entire rotating assembly will need to be re-balanced.

If you PLAN on a turbo set-up, build the motor for a turbo from the start. You won't get the HP figures you want from the start, but you also won't need to completely tear the motor down. You'll only need to put a new cam in when the turbo system is installed.

That is wat i was thinking, the engine will now need 2 be built 2 hold a twin turbo setup, hmmm i wonder how much that is going 2 cost me

why spend Big bucks...

ATI Procharger $4000 + installation = +400 RWHP ---and it's WAY easier than a turbo setup.
