is there any scan tool software for palm os platform that will read my 165 ecu in my 1988 vette?
asking cause it is present for DSM cars for example...

Not now. I have an 87 and I'm a palm programmer. I was thinking of diving into this area. But, we will have to see about time. I'm just learing how to do the hookups and such to the PC this weekend. The palm is a little more fussy on its interface, so it will be a challenge.

But, as far as I know, the only thing is for OBD-II which is 1996 and after.

I guess another question is what kind of interest is there in an OBD-I palm/win-ce scanner? And, anything I do will be free and open source.

I think it is great idea. I have data logger for DSM on my palm. Palms are cheap and great in use in car. My palm (I have palm 105) cost me about $50. I buy it only as data logger. But you can always buy higher model that can be use as mp3 or video player or GPS device.
can't wait see software that change palm to vette scanner.

Give me some time on this. I'm still just trying to get the PC interfaces to work. :smash:

Once I'm confident that I'm not going to fry my Palm, I'll start working on setting one up for a simple hex read and dump. Then its just a matter of formatting :rolleyes: It will be a few months to get anything usefull.

I will follow up on this with the project URL at sourceforge. It should be up within a few days.

Well, I'm in with both feet.

I've started writing PDA OBD-One to record ALDL info on the palm, and some day CE.

I'm testing on an 87 with both stock and 89 program in the ECM, so this should work out well for you. This will take some time though. Still working out the serial communications between the palm and the ECM.

With DIY-EFI down, its been hard to find some answers. I bet once I have it working their site will be back up :mad
