160 thermostat?????Changing Air pump is this a good time to change stat
I have no clue what the Stat is in the car currently and have no way of knowing how hot the car is truely running. Car was put together at a Votech after a paint job done there and one of the kids cracked the Cluster no temp, fuel, or trip reading now. It was an accident so can't kill the kid :( or would. My oil temp is within the normal readings so have not been worried about the car. Three questions.
1. Change it now while pump is off or wait.
2. Is there a way to get an accurate reading on temp with ou buying a new display again. 2nd one in 3 yrs
3. Is 160 to low!!!!
Thanks,
Jason

You might contact Contemporary Corvette (link on my site) to see if they have a used cluster.
You can use a scan tool to read coolant temp; otherwise you need to pull the stat to see the rating.
My L98 responds quite well to a 160 deg stat & fan switch. I've had the valve covers off and she is still quite clean inside.

Do I need to install a fan switch or is it not needed just an added bonus.

Personally, I would do it all at one time. Your hands will be dirty anyway.
I've been using a 160' for sometime now, dosen't really make the car run cooler, but it does help. Also think about replacing the switch, on passenger side head that operates at 180', turning the fan on sooner.
Good Luck
