Vented opti and blower
Who has the 95&up vented optispark with a supercharger? I was told the one way check valve on the hose can hold up to the boost fine, but I was wondering where you hooked up the fresh air line, which was on the intake hose between the MAF and TB. Is it ok there with boost? Do you just poke a small hole in the rubber hose at the throttle body, or should you run it somewhere else, like maybe just to a small breather filter?

Re: Vented opti and blower (Brand-X)
I have a vorted blower in my 95 Vette. The fresh air hose is connected to the bypass valve bypass hose, which is ducted to the air filter housing in my car.

Re: Vented opti and blower (POLOVETTE 94)
I have a '92 so I had to guess on it. I put mine in the tube just after the air filter. I didn't want to put it after the s/c though because I didn't want to pressurize my opti.
Who knows though, maybe it would be fine considering vacuum will affect the cap also and that works o.k.

Opti spark and venting
I have a Vortec supercharger on a 1995. on opti-spark one hose is vented to the bottom of throttle body and the other hose goes to the air intake. It seems to me that when car is under boost it will put pressure on opti-spark. I did not install superchager it was done by someone else.
Long story short water pump seal went out sprayed oil every where - opti sucked up oil and pumped it into those hoses and plugged them. The line coming off throttle body has a little in line filter and it was plugged.
Can vent line be installed elsewhere?

Um...wow, that's an old post. Nine years ago. I just logged on and checked the Forced Induction forum, saw my screen name, and said "I didn't start a topic here today". Then I saw the date. Anyway, the line that goes under the throttle body actually goes to a fitting on the intake, which uses vacuum to suck optispark moisture into the intake.

Yes, I believe it is blue and white, and is a one way check valve. I put the fresh air hose from the opti on the fresh air side, between the air filter and the blower. That way, you are not sending boost through that hose into the opti, and it shouldn't be seeing any from the intake, as long as that check valve is stopping it.
