Default Ed Wright chip in exhaust is (HOT) Stock Chip Not (warm)

Ok i am worried about my ride! ok i noticed when i put in the ed wright chip my exhaust was running super hot and it actually burned a whole in my fiber glass under may car?

So i took it out and ran the stock chip and ofcourse my car runs like crap but when hot in the engine but my exhaust is nice and cold well not cold but warm or normal hot...?
So is he leaning it out or what is he doing?

Did Ed Wright instruct you where to set your base timing? I had this problem once when I was too retarded. This is, assuming, you don't have an engine which uses optispark.

If L98, check your base timing. Could be that it's not set right, and the new chip is bringing it past the ragged edge.

Check your base timing, should be 6* most likely.

if the timing is retarded not all the fuel is burned and escapes through the exhasut and burns in there. This causes the hot exhaust.
