Default TPIS bad business (please read)

:mad ... I'm really pissed off at the idiots from TPIS :mad

I ordered a TPIS MiniRam II intake & fuel rail kit about 2 years ago and while doing the final install last week I found out they forgot to include the adapter fittings from the stock fuel lines to the TPIS hard lines. I called them and spoke to Chris, he gave me an Accel part # and told me these are the fittings I need to complete the install. I ordered them in from the local speed shop at a cost of $45 Can ... I went to install them and realized they are not the correct ones.

So today I called back to TPIS and spoke to Terry, his explanation was Chris gave me the wrong info and that TPIS makes the correct fittings themselves. He told me he can't do anything for me and I must pay $32US for these fiitings that were supposed to be included in the $1150US price I have already paid. He then started being smart and made rude comments like "Isn't it worth the money to get you car running" and "Maybe you could make them yourself, hahaha"

I told Terry that I was going to post my story on Corvette Forum and he replied, "Do you think your post will put us out of business, go ahead".

What should I do? Does Earls or any other fitting company make 18mm & 16mm to -6 fittings?

Why don't you cut and paste your post here and email it to their customer service manager. There is an email address on their website. It certainly can't hurt and it might even make you feel better!

I just sent them an e-mail informing them on know how unhappy I really am and I included the link to this thread.

Maybe now they'll practice some proper customer sevice and send me the fittings for free ASAP ... but I seriously doubt it.

This probably won't shut them down, but their $32 screw-up will probably cost them several hundred $$$ in orders to some other parts suppliers.

I doubt it too.. Company's like this normall could care less about one person... Now, if you were a company, it'd be a different story, but your only a small fish.... Either way, it sucks to do business that way... One thing I'm wondering, did you say two YEARS ago you bought it?

Well 2yrs is quite a while for an order correction but you'd think that for the few $$ they would want to keep a customer happy and avoid the bad press.

If you want to leave a permanent black mark, post the situation honestly in Product Reviews (and send their customer support the link).

It's not to be punative, just to get their attention. ;)

They could have handled that better. as for the rude comments. Totally uncalled for. I will say, a purchase 2 years ago...man, thats a long time. I would have checked and made sure everything was in there when the purchase was made.

I have had nothing but good service from TPIS. So good, they even threw in free stuff (a $9 block-off plate for the EGR and AIR pump fittings when I ordered my long tube headers).

I also needed to make a return. I bought 2 heated Bosch Oxygen sensors that i didnt need. I sent it back, and saw an immediate credit. No follow-up phone call. just straight customer service.

What kind of idiot would recommend an Accel part, when Accel is their direct competitor thru LPE?

I'll never order anything from them.

Or thousands, for that matter.

That's horrible service though. There are ways to be polite and still deny a customer's request. No matter how angry the customer gets (not saying you were), the customer service rep has no place to be sarcastic or abusive.

A post like this is enough to make me reconsider someone with a better track record, even if it costs a few bucks more.

My two cents: I've found it's quite common in the "auto enthusiast" industry to run into folks who treat their customers like crap. I have actually grown so jaded to it that it hardly bothers me any more, to some extent. I almost expect it. When you find somebody who really treats customers with respect, it's a surprise and refreshing. I'm not saying it's right for them to do it, I'm just saying it's common from my experience. I too would patronize a different company if the other company was decent to me.

The other thing is: Are you absolutely sure those fittings were supposed to be included? I just bought the Holley Stealthram and Holley Fuel Rail kit a couple months ago and right there in the instructions it told me I'd need to buy fitting from Earl's to hook the fuel lines up to the factory fuel lines. They didn't tell me that in advance. After I bought it and it showed up and I read the instructions, then I realized I had to buy the fittings.

I've actually never dealt with TPIS, so I can't comment on their service. I've never bought anything from them because the prices they charge for their stuff is offensive to me.

if this is true i think it is a horrible way to treat a person that bought over $1100.00 in parts from me a short while ago.. so horrible id be very tempted to post this on a few f-body boards also
i was seriously looking at their zzx cam. geez , thats no where near what you spent.. they'd prolly have my number blocked if i had a problem. guess i better look elsewhere.

396 Roadster, I own a wholesale cabinet supply business. Most of my customers are builders and developers, but we get a few individuals as well.

While the individual sale isn't significant to our bottom line, we believe their money is important to them regardless. If I had an employee talk to one of our customers like the TPIS rep talked to you, he'd be available for employment at TPIS the next day! :mad

The indifference and cavalier attitude of a "customer service rep" can not be tolerated by an ethical company........ just my 2 cents!
