Best Spark plugs and recommended gap for l98?
What spark plugs would you go with on an 87 l98? What is the recommended gap I should set them to? Thanks!

I would look at the NGK platnum or iridium.
Either way, I would set to factory gap, which, I think for the L98, is .050... correct me, guys!

I run the NGK V-Powers in my '85. The gap for my '85 is .035. I think the gap for your '87 is .045. Enjoy your car! :chevy

I just posted a thread about bad spark plugs. My 88 had a set of AC Rapidfires in it with cut electrodes. I picked up a new set of standard AC's. Must have gotten some bad plugs in that new box. Car ran like poopie with them. Misfired teribly. So I cleaned and regapped the Rapidfires and put them back in. Car runs great.
I really like the rapidfires. I believe the stock gap for my aluminum head 88 is still .035". I have a hypertech ignition and set my gap to .040". Runs pretty sweet there.

Gap on the aluminum headed L98s is 0.035", and if you ask for a set of spark plugs for your car, they should be pre-gapped. The plug manufacturers are now pre-gapping their plugs because it's a bad idea to change the gap on any conventional single electrode spark plug.

I use Rapid Fire #5 in my 89 L98....but I gap them to .045. This is the standard gap for this pulg. I tried the .035 and .045 gap. The latter works best in my garage queen! Have you tried setting the TPS at .65 volts? This gives me better throttle response.
