hi,
i have a 92 lt1 zo7 6 speed i bought used with 85,000 miles on the clock, this weekend i'm going to be doing some underhood cleaning (not using water though) and was wondering if i should change the power steering fluid or not to my knowledge it has never been changed and the car is 100% stock, there are no steering problems with the car just wondering if its something i should do if so should i use redlines synthetic power steering fluid and how much would it take.

hanging to new fluids generally never hurts anything...synthetic power steering fluid is a definite improvement over dino. Synthetic handles the heat ranges better.

I use Amzoil auto tranny fluid

What ever happened to the days when power steering fluid was red and you could tell if your leak was oil or power steering fluid?

I see your replace the fluid and will up one fluid!


Use GM "Cold Climate" power steering fluid. It's better to use a PS mix as it contains the additives required to properly protect the PS system. GM cold climate mix is not just for cold climates. It's a nice semi synthetic mix with the "right stuff" for your PS system. Trust me on this. I buy it by the case from Jeff Koop.

I know what you are saying Jack, but this stuff is really good.
