I just finished putting the motor in and will be running it at the track
for the first time this summer what should I expect the car to run?

When you get it tuned and some good meats out back maybe you'll need a cage...assuming you have a good exahust system to go with that package and your shift points are correct.

Do you have a stock TC; a shift kit??

As long as she hooks, the tune is close, and you have a good convertor (its an auto right?) you should be seeing extremely deep 12s.

I'd say low 13s. How much hp do you think you have? I would guess 350 to 375. That's probably not going to get you any 12s.

350-375 horse gross(crank) is good for 110-up mph range(on the low side) in the 1/4.

My regular old stock, no mods, 96, LT1, autumatic will run 13.8 time after time. I've seen other similar cars on this board claim much the same.
How much improvement do you think the LT4 would make? Unless it would give 100 hp it wouldn't reduce the et by the one second that you claim.

What do you think my Viper would do? It has 138 cubes and 100 hp more than my C4. It has 335/35/17 rears. it has a 3.55 rear. It will run mid 12s if I do it right. What do you think it should run?

How much hp do you think the guy who started this thread has? What did he have to start with? What did he do for mods?

What do you see the ZO6s doing?

Why should he expect to do better than low 13s?

I say his 91 vert was a low 14 second car to start with. I think he added enough mods to make it 1 second faster. You think he is going to pick up 2 seconds? I'll bet I'm closer to the truth than you are.

Are you saying LT4's can't run high 12's?
Go out to the track and see some LT4's run. High 12 are possible. Here's an idea. Start a post on this forum and ask can LT4's run high 12's. BTW i don't make claims unless i have proof? I have all my time slips. The high 12 @ 109mph and plenty of low 13's. I also have some low 14's for my LT4. Tends to happen when you can't get traction.

Also not only LT4s can run 12's..
Hell with 270HP an L98 can run mid 13's.. With 350+HP you SHOULD be in the mid to high 12's if it hooks.. :lurk:

I was running 13.8 to 14.0 all day long with my stock 1991 L98. That had 245HP. And yes, I have all the time slips for that also.

Ok, isn't that about what I said he had to start with? Then he added mods to get abou 100hp more.

OK, I'll back down a little. I said he'd run low 13s. I'll give you the couple of tenths and agree that he might just break into the high 12s.

When he first asked the question, guys were telling him he would see "deep 12s" on motor. I still think I'm very close to right on this.

Chris NJ C5 has a '97 Viper GTS and has gone 11.96 bone stock.
Evan Smith (of Fast Fords and Muscle Mustangs) has gone 11.91 in a stock Viper.

Z06's can go into the 11's stock and LT1's can hit high 12's stock, LT4's can go quicker than that and LT5's even quicker.

You have to look at the mph, that is what shows your HP. The et just shows how you drive the car. Better et's come from better launches and set ups.

I've spun the tires and went high 13's, but still got 108 mph out of it.

You probably would give my Viper a small spanking. I do have the 3.55 rear and Kuhmo exta700 tires, but my 94 Viper only has the 400 hp gen1 engine. It's good for mid 12s for sure and perhaps faster. I didn't get my Viper to run it on the track, couple times is fun but I really don't want to break it. I think it's probably about as prone to breakage as my C4 but it's quite a bit more expensive to fix if you do break it.

The best thing about the Viper is reputation. Almost everyone thinks it's faster than everything else. I know there are faster cars out there but most people don't. They just think it look's cool and they don't see many of them.
People take pictures of it. If I leave it in front of a store there will be people looking at it when I come out. Everyone likes it. I don't have to really be fast, almost everyone already thinks I am.

And it isn't exactly slow.
