Default CHEAP OE OPTI-SPARK PRICE (LESS THAN JEFF)

Needed an OPTI-SPARK for my 94 and the guy doing the work on my car is a BIG LT1 guy. He told me about this place in FLA that he gets his from. He beat Jekk Koop's price by $50.00.

So here it is:

Jason @ Sam Taylor Chevrolet 850-243-8826

Cost for the 94 New AC/Delco Opti-spark was $280.00 + Shipping

Jeffs price was $337.00 plus Shipping

The thing I have noticed about Jeff, in only a month on the board is he is very helpful. And Jeff discounts just about everything as far as I can tell.

Do you also do the water pump with the Opti?

Now is the OPTI-SPARK the only thing I need? This is what's going on, once my car gets hot the engine I guess would like skip. Then the engine light comes on and the car idles like crap. I was told it was the opti-spark. Now reading all this other stuff like cap and rotor I'm confused on what I'm getting as a opti-spark?????? And is there any adjustments that I need to do when changing this out???

Sounds like Jason Cromer... many of the F-body owners order through him. That's a great price, although personally I prefer Jeff since he is intimately familiar with C4s.

Make sure you are getting the complete opti rather than the cap and rotor, I noticed in some catalogs, they break the opti into two different items and end up charging you more.

I'm doing something that will almost eliminate the opti. More details when I finish the conversion.

FYI: Dal at Van Devere Pontiac/Buick has complete OE Opti's for $198.00. Dal supports the car "enthusiast' community with some great prices and I in turn support him whenever I can. Dal's number is 877-448-5451.

Jeff will be the first to tell you that on some items he does not get the greatest deals due to his sources. There are times where he gets a batch of a product in that he can gives great prices on. Optisparks he does have good prices on, but there are other places that may be able to beat him in price as you have shown. One thing about Jeff though, he has never given me ANY grief about having a product replaced under warranty. I have had four opti's replaced from him under warranty in the past 4 years (one for my '92 and just ordered my 3rd warranty replacement for my '94). I have also bought them from him for as little as $280 and as much as $340, granted I get reimbursed by the friendly neighborhood GM Parts man :D.

I have heard of the Camaro guys using someone that they get them for between $260 and $280. Perhaps this is it.

Dal used to be my parts guy until I met Jeff. I am shocked though that he has them for $198. I bought one from him back in '99 and it was over $325. He is a good guy too.

Sorry, I just read my previous post and it sounded like a Dig on Jeff. It was not meant to be. Anyway, I think Combination Motorsports has them for $240. I know that many of the Camaro guys go to them for parts. :)

Hey Admiral, I did not read it as a dig at Jeff. Just once I get going it is hard to start. I just can't say enough about the guy cause he has helped me out of a lot of tight jams over the last 3 years.

I was told by a mech that it was the opti spark. He didn't give me any codes! Does it not sound like the opti to you?

It does sound like an opti. However, without a little detective work, you are throwing parts at it in hopes of fixing it. An opti isn't cheap, so the basic thing to do is pull the codes (if any) from the ECM. That will at least point in a direction.

Admiral,

The $198 you quote is way below dealer cost. The $240 price is also below cost. As with most threads on Optisparks, I'm sure you're confused and quoting the price for the later '95-'96 unit. They are over $100 cheaper and do not fit the earlier cars. This is an apples and oranges comparison.

:iagree:

Jeff Kopp sells parts at 10% over dealer cost. So, I would beware of any deals that seem too good to be true.
