Just my $.02 worth. Rim sizes for base suspension changed to 8.5s with 255/45x17s in front and 285/40s rear in 1993. History is long, but the idea was to make it easier to drive for those who don't know how to drive a sports car. The smaller front tire width also reduced wander and the tendancy to follow highway grooves and surface variances. Z07/Z51 (depending on year) maintained the 9.5s and 275/40s on all four corners.

Try to get some 9.5 inch front rims, especially if you want to Autocross and want it to handle as good as possible. Note that the factory performance options maintained the 9.5s front & rear and used 275/40s at all four corners.

Tires too wide for the rim (i.e. where the outer edge of the contact patch is wider than the lip of the rim (general discription) may look OK, but will actually be a detriment if you want optimum handling. Once you get the right tires on the right rims at all four corners, and, if you want to autocross with it handling/turning the best it can, take a close look at your alignment settings. The factory alignment specs are for "people who drive cars" and are designed to keep them going straight. If you want to drive it like the sports car it is, modify the alignment to optimize cornering and turn-in "to the level you want to be serious" about performance driving.

That's the way it "should" be but it's not ! Mine must have been damaged or something.......when I looked yesterday both my rear wheels say right rear,is there a difference ?? Should I use this as an excuse to the wife to buy new wheels! :hurray: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:
but really will this hurt anything?

I have 285s on the rear and 275's up front. i hear 285's fit upfront, but i'd need another set of rims, the stock rims fit 275's no problem.
This is what I run on my 91.
I have 96 Wheels on it.

If you look at the way the "fins" are running on the wheel, you'll notice that the left and right will be in different directions (both will "point" towards the rear when they are on. In terms of driveability I don't think it matters, but visually it will. Look at your front left and rear left and see if they point in the same direction.

The fins on the sawblade wheels are designed to pull heat away from your brake rotors that’s one reason they get so much brake dust on them…as far as having one wrong it does sound like a good excuse to get some 5 spokes :jester
