Well, I could tell you if I had my service manuals here, but they're elsewhere right now. I also believe that the codes are somewhat model year dependent. Easiest way is to call Autozone...they can tell you over the phone what code it is.

Re: what is code 43 ??? (Oldman)
thanks for the link, its kinda interesting though, the link says its a knock sensor but autozone says its an electronic spark control somethin.
Its on a 93 vette and it only did it for about 5 seconds when it was cold. It only does it when its cold. hmm, dont know but anymore ideas would be helpful, im still learning about gm stuff, ford to gm is a big difference :D

Just went through this a couple of weeks ago with my 92'. Just replace both of the knock sensors, and do not over torque them and the code will go away. :yesnod: :seeya

Re: what is code 43 ??? (Mini_K)
I've had the same on my 92 LT1 and since I've recently change the oil and the oil filter the "Service engine soon" never came on again... :smash:
But I experienced exactly the same as you, it only came on when the car was cold and for only a couple of seconds...I've then been told that during the oil filter change the knock sensor could have moved and by doing so the connection (which was perhaps hazardous) could have improved :nopity
It's still a mystery for me but the guy that take care of my vette told me not to worry about that silly knock sensor as long as the engine runs :D

My 92 LT1 does the same thing. When it's really cold, the 'check engine soon' light comes on, and I get a code 43. I replaced the sensors about 15 months ago, so perhaps I overtorqued them slightly. So long as the light goes back off and the car runs fine, I'm not gonna fix it.
