Default Intake manifold leak!!

I have an intake manifold leak. I did the preassure thingy and saw where it was leaking. I need to get this repaired and am having a friend that is a machanic take care of it for me. (I can't do repairs like this, wind up with extra part :D)

I need to know everything that I would need to complete this project. I told him that I would supply him with everything needed to do the job.

Anyone who has done this could you please tell me everything that I would need.

Thanks in advance

Here's what I needed for my LT1...

(2) Intake gaskets (fel pro preferrably)
(1) Tube of RTV (or equivalent)
(1) EGR gasket (goes on top backside of intake)
(1) Secondary Air Injection gasket (goes on top backside of intake)
(1) Tube high temp thread sealer
(1) Throttle body gasket (if you remove)
(1) Box of zip loc bags (for bolts, etc)
(1) Roll masking tape (for marking aforementioned bags)
(1) Can of gasket remover (or equivalent)

Besides the tools for removal (torque wrenches, etc), I think that's all that you need. If I think of anything more, I'll update. :)

Your mechanic friend is probably aware of it, but Felpro has a set that has all gaskets needed. I think it's called the "upper gasket set". In addition to the list above, it has the plenum and runner gaskets as well. About the only one that isn't included is the thermostat gasket...........you may as well replace the thermostat as well, since you have to remove it, anyway. At least I did on my L98.

:withstupid: It includes the throttle body gasket, plenum to runner gaskets, runner to base manifold gaskets, and even new orings for the injector ports on the fuel rail. You might also want to get new orings for the fuel lines going into the fuel rail (2) and new orings for the injectors themselves (where they seal to the intake base). If I recall, the kit didn't include a distributor gasket, thermostat gasket, or EGR gasket.

I think it came with the base to head gaskets.. but not sure.

They'res LOTS of posts on this topic.. use the archives and you'll find what you're looking for.

I just purchased a Fel Pro "Intake Manifold Set" part number MS 93318 for about $28 at a local auto parts. This set has everything but the kitchen sink! It contains: tube black RTV, throttle body gasket, distributor gasket, EGR pipe gaskets, fuel pipe O rings, injector O rings, manifold to head gaskets, and runner gaskets. It does not contain a thermostat housing gasket. I assume your "leak" is coolant which you found when you pressurized the radiator??? I would make sure the manifold to head bolts and the thermostat housing bolts are tight before I started pulling off parts.

Be aware that there are a few black plastic vacuum lines that with age become brittle and easily crack or break. I have an 85 and can only get one from the dealer (only $12.95) but for your 90 they may still be available. Some of the guys on the forum post about using rubber tubes, I don't recall the diameter though. Good luck!

I was able to see with a flashlight where the little crack was leaking coolant.

Buy a new set of intake bolts to replace the torx intake bolts. Anything is better than the torx:)
