Default park brake

hi,
the park brake on my 92 zo7 doesnt hold, the handle itself doesnt ratchet but when i hold it from retracting the brakes do hold the car, has anyone else had this problem :flag :steering:

I haven't had that problem but if you pull the cover you may be able to lube the rachet mechanism or otherwise service it.

Also be sure to depress the foot brake before you pull the parking brake handle to set the brakes firmly.

It's supposed to auto-adjust by cycling the parking brake three times. Apply it sharply. :hurray:

Had the exact same problem in my '90. I found that the ratchet arm that engages the gear inside the brake cover was stuck in the retracted position (as it would be when you press the button to release the brake). I put the tube on the nozzle of WD-40 and stuffed some small towels under the parking brake cover to keep the liquid off the carpet. After freeing up the ratchet arm and two or three treatments of WD-40, worked like new. Hope you have the same result.
