Default Install shortblock, or w/heads&lower intake

Hello All,
Got an '89 AT. Trans/converter are in car, engines out. Would thing be easier, if we install the short block, get bellhousing bolts in, motor mounts, and everything else, _then_ put both heads, intake on? Or install long block, and lower intake. I'm using ARP head studs. both heads were pulled, and the short block alone was removed (rather painlessly).
I guess I don't really want to torque heads/intake on, while in the car. But, that's what I'm asking here. Is installing the long block, the logical approach? Thanks for listening..

bjankuski:
I really appreciate your input. I believe we will put long block in, with valve covers, and lower intake...

I completely agree!!! I'd rather deal with the wiper motor/cover, than to have to torque down the heads and intake in the car...much more sanitary to do those procedures on the engine stand👍
